http://footballleagueblog.dailymail.co.uk/2012/05/championship-review.html An interesting read! Brief Summary/Spoiler below: please log in to view this image Adkins tipped as one of best managers. Lambert and Lallana named as players of the year by a couple of the guys. Sharp and Hooiveld mentioned as signings of the season. Also, very interesting that when asked who they thought would make an impact at a higher level Kevin said: "Rodriguez has all the attributes to be a successful striker in the Premier League: height, pace, and finishing ability. He is still only 22 and scored 21 goals this season. It would have been more had he not picked up a groin injury. No wonder he was voted into the team of the season, despite his side finishing in 13th spot." DTLW
The part that made me laugh and clearly Gus still bitter and thinks that winning the title makes you the ones they remember and be the best....did he say that after L1? Who were the most impressive managers this season? Gus: Brian McDermott It has to be Brian McDemott at Reading for me as he won the title.
Well, you can usually expect pundits who don't bother doing research, in getting things wrong, but by now, all Saints fans themselves should know that Rickie wasn't always an out-n-out striker, hence the great vision, defence splitting passing and a little twinkle toes thrown in for good measure. Nice to see some pundits actually taking the time to do some research.
Poyet is seen as Mr Bad Guy by our fans, but I'm not sure how anyone could argue with this unless it is to add "with limited resources" at the end. I loved reading about JR, and now just wait to hear he's actually signed.
I still think he took an already assembled team from the season before (albeit his team) that was a few minutes away from the Premier league to the xt step og getting there... very good. Nigel took a team from second bottom of League one to the Premier League in LESS than two seasons. That is the real achievement for me. If we are talking about managers performance versus resources, only one winner: Sean Dyche at Watford.
If we're going to be absurdly picky, we know that league placing was a false one, as the side were playoff candidates at the very least. Pardew had gone and they'ed since played four games, achieving only one point from them [IIRC - not checked]. That got them in the relegation zone. Still, Nigel has done fantastically well.
Oh I like 'absurdly picky'. Pedants rock... Please don't let the facts get in the way of a really good story/post
