One of the games that I pencilled in to go to....but in the end I didn't.....for reasons that I've explained elsewhere. How can we be so easily out-played by a team who have lost more home games (10) than any other in this division....how can it be so......Sheridan admits he doesn't know the answer. Away tactics must be wrong surely.......a team can get used to failing regularly and just accept their fate......surely thats rubbish. Even more worrying is the terrible record of never winning when going behind........September 2012 was the last time we won a after going behind......thats roughly 30 months.....how many games I don't know and can't be bothered to work out......we have never done it under Sheridan.....you start thinking that there might be a curse that needs lifting.....you just start to wonder why this is happening.....it becomes a mental block and you start to accept you fate. Sheridan at least tried to change things on the hour by bringing on two fresh players.....but the inevitable continued to happen....the old warhorse Cureton finished us off near the end. Two consecutive home games certainly took it's toil on Dag & Red's supporters.....only 1713 came through the gates.....over 500 official greens....but as I know from experience there will quite a few others around the game who bought directly from Dag & Red. This begs the question....how on such desperate gates can they get hold of a proven goalscorer like Cureton....top scorer on ten for the Daggers this season.....and we Argyle cannot entice anyone who can score goals to bolster up our attack beyond our two starting goalscorers.....what is going wrong.........Cureton can only be getting three square meals a day from paupers like Dag & Red to get him to play for them......you only have to walk around the ground to see that their facilities are no better than lower Conference clubs..... like my local team Bromley who are flying this season top of what is level 6 of the pyramid. Sheridan I feel is showing that he cannot solve what is stopping this team....of adequate players for this level surely from being winners......what has Talbot got that this lot haven't.....other than a Div 2 Championship medal. PS.....I know that Luke has one as well.
I've read the "blame me" utterings from Sheridan and can't help but come up with one conclusion from that, he has just come up with the "I'll say what they want to hear rubbish and that will endear me to them for seeming honest" crap. I just don't think Sheridan can motivate people enough. Not saying he is a terrible Manager and can't pick a player because some of the loanees especially he has come up with are pretty decent. Am saying that the one thing he lacks is man management and getting the best out of youngish players who could do better than they do. I think this squad has the talent and I've seen them play so very well this season. A few duds but generally much improved to the stuff we have been served previously. But, they are far too inconsistent to be winners and get that illusive promotion. Talbot for example doesn't need motivation hence why he performs consistently. He is not a kid anymore and has been there done it and got the T shirt. Cureton for Dagenham is the same so you can't compare them to the younger players. The rest need guidance in the main and Sheridan is incapable of giving it. I think if they don't perform on their own then he can't do anything to make them if that makes sense. Can't see us going anywhere under him at this rate.
Hasn't Sheridan got a 3 yr contract ?.....so will he do another year if we fail this season to gain promotion....or has Brent got the guts to move him on ?
Well, if we lose the next one.. i can't see us making the playoffs this season.. such a shame as it looked so promising at one point, then we got back on track.. Now we are de railed again.. I think Sheridan will go if we fail to get in the play offs let alone be promoted.. We are not good enough it seems..
I don't know what contract he has but to me it's not relevent anyway. Brent hasn't got the balls to move him on because he would know it would cost him money and there is no way Brent will put his hand anywhere near his pocket. I don't think any Manager just sacks themselves and walks so despite my opinion of him I believe, if he does have a contract past the end of this season then he will remain until or if another club comes calling from his neck of the woods. He would have no qualms about walking away then no doubt given the loyalty in football. Any chance of Holloway coming back with the immortal lines "I was only kidding. I love this place so much"
