In talks with some eredivisie club called Ado den haag about a possible role. Martin Jol already works for that club in some capacity. So no retirement for him just yet.
Dick was so used to working with successful clubs and working for trophies, he just wasn't used to battling relegation, and said so ("not my cup of tea"). I'll always respect the man for his honesty with us, and for leaving in time to give his replacement a chance of turning things round. Good luck, Dick, and don't ever be shy about visiting SoL.
This season was a pretty abject start and if he had handled himself in the manner of Poyet/ Di Canio then I could understand the sentiment but the guy was a gent and gave it his best. He seemed to feel let down by player purchases but left on reasonably good terms and I think it's fair to say you were a better prospect for managers when he left than you had been when he arrived.
I never questioned his personality or persona while managing us this season & I agree completely that he is a gent. I just feel that the 1 year contract was a disaster waiting to happen.
