From a high-quality field of candidates (would it be any other way) PAFC have identified who they want to be their D of F.

They are in negotiations with their chosen candidate and hope to be able to announce a name soon.

At the same time Argyle announce that Martin Baker their acting Chief Executive has left the club to persue other interests......all this off the official website.

No ageist comments please joe our egos are fragile enough as it is. I didn't get the ejector seat thing either plymborn, maybe somebody by that name invented one.

As Argyle are a hospital case currently perhaps somebody called "Ward" is quite apt.

Another great British company, the ejector seat of choice across the world.

Another great British company, doing great business in the United States. Let's hope a bunch of publicity seeking US politicians don't launch an attack on its tax arrangements, they wouldn't do that to their mates in the UK, would they? Oh, hang on a minute.......

What will be interesting are his terms of reference.

Firstly, is it a full time or part time post?

Secondly, there was an interesting remark on the TV yesterday, I think, to the effect that Ward will report to the Chairman and although Ward won't be directly involved with the team, Fletcher will report to Ward. Since the appointment hasn't been announced officially that must be regarded as mere speculation but would be interesting if true.

All I can say to this is lets see what affect if any it will have on the pitch. I do not believe for one minute that a DofF will not have just a tad input into matters although it will be kept under wraps and not spoken about. If the results improve as they did when Deehan was appointed then for me it will be money well spent. In the absence of getting rid of Fletcher permanently this must be the next best thing.

We always do it the wrong way, we need rid of Fletcher as the money sent on a DOFF is wasted i feel as a new man could come in and use the extra cash on players if there is any. I can't see ward being cheap?

They would have to pay off Fletcher don't forget joe so I doubt we would be saving anything for players in the long term. I assume the DOFF wages come out of a budget not included in player wages so not anything to do with the 55% we supposedly have to stick to. I don't think it has been officially announced yet anyway so we could be jumping the gun although it seems it will happen. Good initiation with Exeter on Saturday. I see are Argentinian has said that "we need to win this one for the supporters". No mate you have to win all the games for the supporters not just this one. I kind of know what he means though but for me it is just another 3 points up for grabs and who it is isn't important.

Interesting that someone now attributes the better results in the second part of last year to Deehan not Fletcher.

Interesting because as I remember it, most people said at the time that Deehan was a waste of money who sat in the stand & did nothing.

Interesting because if things improve with Ward around, he'll be given the credit rather than merely the end of a run of bad luck. If they don't improve, no doubt Fletcher will continue to be blamed.....

Not interesting really notdistant as I never said that I can remember Deehan sat in the stands and did nothing. If the results remain the same then I will blame both of them. Fletcher initially for still being useless in my opinion and Ward for not being any better. I cannot imagine that Ward will literally have no input. Outwardly they will maintain that but in reality I can't see it.

It didn't say you said it Sensible, but many did as I remember. But hey, as long as they can have a pop at Fletcher, who cares about consistency?
