    www.watoday.com.au/sport/soccer/aussie-investors-close-to-charlton-takeover-want-kewell-as-coach-20180329-p4z6x3.html

Reading through this it seems Charlton will become a breeding ground for Aussie players.... not sure this appeals and certainly Kewell doesn't appeal at all!

I am starting to feel it's January 2014 all over again ..... so what will happen? ... will we get Steve Smith and David Warner taking over as Chief Exec and Finance Director?

I am already a tad worried about this lot and they are not even our owners yet... :(

The king is dead.... long live the king!

I don't know what information this article is based on, but if this scenario did come to pass it would fail, just as Roland's masterplan did. Fingers crossed that it will have a different outcome.

If Robinson was still in charge I'd probably quite fancy the thought of Kewell taking over, but the relaunch of Charlton Athletic on Saturday was such a pivotal moment that I see Bowyer as the way forward. What isn't certain is that Bowyer wants it permanently.

If we wanted to buy Australian players it would be very hard because of the employment laws. Unless they were top players.I don't know about Aussie youngsters for our Academy.

Which players do need work permits?
Footballers from outside the EU must still obtain a work permit if they wish to play for English football clubs. Every non-EU footballer must successfully apply for a Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) with the FA before the Home Office will consider issuing a work permit.

The system has recently been tightened and now only non-EEA players who are internationally established at the highest level, and whose employment will make a significant contribution to the development of their sport at the highest level, are allowed to play in the UK. One of the reasons for the rule change was that only 58% of football players who were given work visas played any top-flight football in their second season.

Presumably these restrictions won't apply after Brexit.

I really don't know. There will surely be some restrictions on employing Foreign Nationals? Isn't that one of the reasons why the Brexiters voted leave? No MORE FOREIGNERS coming in.

True Brexiteers have never had a problem with immigration from Commonwealth countries like Australia, New Zealand and Canada. We have a lot in common with them.

Since I've been following Charlton we've been linked to partnerships with New Zealand, Italian and South African teams. None of them have come to anything.
