Good shout Weighty, would so like to see a more personalised Ipswich page after a year and half of playing on the lawn.
I did enquire a few months ago about a guarantee whether it would actually get done having spent a couple of weeks before creating one that never got uploaded and I got the below response. If the guy who makes money out of the site isn't bothered I'm not going to waste my time on it, sorry. "Sorry but I do not have the functions to enable me to do this. I sent Mick a PM on a completely separate matter over a week ago and put up a sticky thread until today indicating so and never ever got a response. It is what it is." if someone feels like taking it upon themselves get in touch with BRB for the necessary dimensions and go ahead by all means.
It's not seen much use since our upturn in results JWM, I guess forums like these see more action when there's plenty to bitch about. There has been a bit of bullshit between the Ipswich/Norwich boards and some other dodgy moments lately (most of which I have tried not to get involved in) that haven't helped matters either. Hang in there mate, between here and TWTD we'll get our fix
It's always going to be difficult with a site like this because unlike 606 there's no news attatched to it, so I geuss not many people stumble upon it like they did 606. I think this forum's been pretty quiet for a year or so really. I don't think it helps that it is often dominated by the same people and infighting (I'm guilty there) but when a a new poster comes along or someone who hasn't posted in a while they get shot down and are themselves told they are an idiot or straight away involved in petty name calling, it doesn't make them want to come back!! Also sometimes people can start a thread that is an interesting footballing debate but noone posts on it. Then a thread that is about the Norwich vs Ipswich rivalry or about something ridiculous gets hundreds of replies!!! Does anyone know can you get a list of names who are connected to the ITFC forum, as it would be interesting to see, there's alot of people who haven't posted on here for a while, some names I forget but Spanish and Hoppers haven't been on here in a while??
If you want to trawl way, way back there will be a post in the Spring of 2011 like that ptc. Hoppers is still very much active and Spanish has been looking in as recently as Saturday. You can see when someone was last active by clicking on their profile.
I have been thinking the exact same thing..... Did I start a thread on it not so long ago? (I can't remember) But I have been thinking for a while that this board is very much the familiar faces with the familiar arguments and peoples stance on topics (a little like politics) but having said that, this board is considerably more active than a lot of others around particularly other not606 club forums. It is a shame that this site isn't such a melting pot of discussions and ideas as the old 606 was but I think it's down to a variety of reasons (one being the disillusioned fans focusing time and money away from ITFC) but I for one will continue to scour these boards in search of some genuine football debate and discussions and to try and keep up with ITFC when I can't make the match or even listen to the radio.
I regularly check in during the week to see whats happening. I have mixed views about posting. There are times I feel like I could respond to every other comment but at other times I do post and what is meant to be a brief comment turns into an essay as I feel points need clarifying. The only thing that does really annoy me is the whole 'xxx hater, xxx lover' Just because you point out a negative after a positive result or vice versa it doesnt mean there is a hidden agenda - its just trying to give a balanced view. Other than that I like reading and discussing other peoples POV.
Never mind the banner boys, I would be more miffed that you're known as Ipswich FC on here rather than Ipswich Town FC !
Hello everybody I always check out this forum and have always enjoyed most, if not all, the threads and debates. They mostly show a good level of ITFC knowedge and about the game in general, as well as reflect are endless passion for all things Town. It's in our blood - well, mine anyway for 50 plus years, and I for one would miss the banter. While we may well have less subscribers, it is usually quality stuff if not quantity! I especially appreciate the excellent match summaries, as I dont get to many games these days. And I always relish the occasional spats between Warky and IPTFC - both commendable in their opinions and at times different viewpoints, which we all by and large appreciate. Once in a while we can all agree on a topic 100%! ..like the simple plain fact that we are all enjoying following Town's fortunes much more than we were a year ago....3 months ago even! Which also explains why it has been much quieter on here...
I get annoyed when Threads get side tracked from the original subject and trawl around the houses before sometimes returning to the subject at hand.
I think the problem is that not many new members are being attracted. I notice that Stratton hasn't logged on since Mick McCarthy was named manager just to name one and Rushmere hasn't logged on for ages either. People did drop off the radar on 606 but because there were always links from the incredibly popular BBC Sport pages there were always new posters getting involved.
I agree Lancs it's a very difficult forum to attract people to, it's not as if people are just going to stumble accross it!! I would say put a post on TWTD to say come and have a look at not606 but I doubt they'd be happy about that as it's taking away customers as it were!! It is a shame I think some people are twindling away, I know Rushmere I think got fed up of peoples petty arguments!! I can't see what can be done about it though really, like others have said the Ipswich forum is one of the more popular ones, so must be a problem that all have!!
My issue with drumming up punters from TWTD is actually the same reason why I refuse to go onto their site. Its like NOT606 on Speed. My mates used to send me links to 'good reads' on TWTD but it was only an interesting read due to the amount of unbelievablely stupid and unrealistic crap that was written. If you like TWTD and it has so many posters then surely the obvious option would be for the 10's of not606ers to move their rather than 100s of TWTDers to move here.
