How many of the signings had this clause in their contract I wonder? http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/footba...-price-should-they-be-relegated#ixzz2E1ymO4l3
Only the ones wed want to keep. The old players wont have them as no one will ever pay those wages again, they will be the new Hulse or Rowlands.
Granero's recent performances won't do much for his "on sale" value anyway. Granted, it must have been disheartening playing under Hughes, but the guy needs to pick his game up now under Harry.
I've not heard any players having a go a Hughes yet, all the stories are about them, rightfully, blaming themselves. If Hughes had really lost the dressing room i think Tony would have been much less reluctant to sack him - he moved quick enough when Warnock lost it. Perhaps Hughes should have criticized the players more in public - Teflon Harry has already made it abundantly, repetitively clear that if we go down it will be the players' fault. And i think he's right.
I'm not saying Hughes lost the dressing room - his reputation as a player meant that he continued to command respect - but Hughes is a non communicator. Fine, when things go well, but if they don't, it has to be disheartening for the players, even if the players need a good bollocking from the manager to get them straight. Harry communicates - he's much more likely to share his thoughts, criticise and praise, and generally be more inclusive. No manager can be friends to all the players, but some can make players give that extra for him that makes a difference.
I'm really not sure what's happened with Granero. You can see that he oozes talent but somehow is not able to apply it in the formations we have used thus far. He more than anyone has suffered by the pressure on the ball and quick closing down that is now the hallmark tactic of every team that visits LR (because they can all see we struggle to deal with it). Does that not happen in Spain?
I think you've hit the nail on the head there. From my take on Spanish football, generally you do get a lot more time on the ball and the whole play is somewhat 'slower'. It might just be he is gonna take a while longer to get used to the English style of play.
I don't think it's the style of game. He played very good in the beginning and now he lost it. I think the adaptation goes another way .
That's how I see it Pirate. From what I see of Spanish football at the very top level, it certainly isn't slow, in fact recently it's looked far too quick for English teams - I remember Bilbao murdering Manure vividly last season. But what is it with Granero then?
Cut price exits? What we fans want are cut price entrances. £10 a head. A reward for putting up with all the crap (so far) this season.
Fat chance, we'll still pay through the nose. It'll be interesting to see what price they set the West Brom cup match at...
Its going to be too much and will be a half empty stadium, £10 is about right for STH. Especially as we play them on boxing day as well. I have a feeling it will be £20.
