With Nigel Pearson saying our current squad will be largely the same squad we have for next season in the Premier League who do people see as good enough and not. While I agree with Nigel that we should keep most of the squad but we cant afford to keep players who just wont cut it Black- Key Player Blue- Squad player/Cover Red- Surplus to requirements Kasper Schmeichel Very important we keep Kasper, I have no doubt he will prove to be one of the best keepers in the prem next season. To replace him if he chooses to leave at the end of his contract could be expensive Ritchie De Laet He will need some better competition then he has had this season with with no one else really managing to challenge his spot long term this season Paul Konchesky Me personally I would have let him go now but Nigel did give him a new contract recently. Surely he can be nothing more then cover though Danny Drinkwater Been nothing short of superb this season. He will be a key player for us next season without doubt. Only question mark over him is whether he can maintain his form with Matty James alongside him Wes Morgan Wes will be our main centre half again next season. Only issue could be pace so he might need a pacy partner alongside him to sweep up anything in behind him Zak Whitbread Contract expires, was never up to standard Dean Hammond Its a case of thank you very much and good bye IMO. He did exactly what was required this season but wont have a future in the prem Matty James He has the ability to play in the prem without doubt. Might need to find a bit more of a killer instinct in the final 3rd Jamie Vardy I think he will do well in the prem. His pace and work rate will make him a nightmare for defenders, not many players like him around anymore. Andy King He started the season well but went off the boil. Really needs to address this and the issue of "going missing" in games. Cant afford to carry a midfielder in the prem. Lloyd Dyer I think next season will be Lloyd's last with the club. His pace will make him a useful weapon for us but with his age he is going to slow down a bit now. Still has alot to offer though Sean St. Ledger Expensive sick note whose contract runs out. His attitude and dedication are often questionable aswell Jeff Schlupp As a striker he is surplus to requirements now. As a left back I think he could become a very good Prem left back but will need better competition then Konch Neil Danns Exactly the same as St. Ledger minus the sicknote Paul Gallagher Hardly setting the world alight in League 1. Gave us some great memories but his days was numbered here 2 years ago Liam Moore He has all the attributes needed to make a top defender and maybe even an full England international within then next few years. Zoumana Bakoyogo Clearly not going to be up to the standard required Gary Taylor-Fletcher Same as Dean Hammond Ignasi Miquel Has done ok but probably best we send him back to Arsenal Anthony Knockaert Will be a key player especially at home but sometimes in the away games he might be used a bit more sparingly Conrad Logan If Kasper leaves then we will need better competition for the new number 1. If Kasper stays then Conrad should be fine as back up Riyad Mahrez Looks a prem player already. Marcin Wasilewski- His experience could be very useful to us next season. I think he will get outdone for pace often though Kevin Phillips IMO very important we keep him on as coach. Marko Futacs Surplus to requirements David Nugent Needs to be alot more clinical when he gets the chances. Still has something to offer so worth keeping on Chris Wood Still need another year or 2 to fully develop and to learn how to use his size properly IMO. He could be a very good striker in the prem in the future but for now he would be a squad player
The thing with wood is that he isn't a target man. We've done something similar to him as Liverpool did to heskey. His size has betrayed him a bit and I think we changed our play to use as a big man past season and that's what cost us.
Largely agree, but think Hammond signed a 2 year contract? so would expect him in the squad next season.
Sorry, largely disagree, but its your squad so its up to you guys. Personaslly think you will look back at this at xmas time and regret the ratings. Be interesting to review in 12 months time. the prem will prove to be a whole diffrent experience...enjoy it whilst it lasts guys
I know mate, but how long ago was it ? Things can change in 10 (?) years mate. what you knew then has no relevance on what happens now. I think you'll be ok, but just think that your rating are wrong you my friend are nothing short of..well doesnt matter.Im sure Dt and others will prove my point next season...PS..whats a "Gangsta" None in Leicester last time i looked..unless its driving a "low rider....Sorry just cant be bothered right now !
Poor LG always having to explain his user name, may have to create a sticky just for that next season! Anyway I pretty much agree with the assessment but I do believe Andy King may just step up and show what he's capable of next season, just a feeling in my bones.
Think you've missed the point mate. Go back, read it again, and then read it again, and then see if you can work it out. There's a good lad Whooooooooooooooooosssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Kasper Schmeichel - His future is not in our hands anymore but we need to do everything to hold onto him imo, hes a keeper ... get it! ... i'll move on ... Ritchie De Laet - Attacking is great, defence can be suspect, as can his fitness be, i'd put him in, but if the right fullback came up, i'd be tempted to bench De Laet. Paul Konchesky - Backup for Schlupp imo, wouldn't be surprised if he was 3rd in line if a new LB was bought in. Danny Drinkwater - Has to be a keeper, but as a deep lying midfielder or an attacking playmaker? Wes Morgan - Has looked suspect recently, but its been a long season and hes hardly been rested, so i'd keep him in, plenty to prove that he can make the step up. Zak Whitbread - Gone, impressive loan at Derby will get him a new Championship club. Dean Hammond - I expect others to come in that will be better than him, will be sold/loaned out or sparsely used in cup matches. Matty James - On the fringes, has proved that he has a bond with DD, definite substitute if not a starter. Jamie Vardy - Time to let him fly in the prem, i hope people don't get on his back too early next season. Andy King - just in front of Hammond in manys book, wont imo get much of a look in either, honestly if the right price was offered, i'd offload him. Lloyd Dyer - As with King, Dyer could easily be found out in the prem, is a current bencher imo that will only slip down the billing if new wingers arrive. Sean St. Ledger - Gone gone gone Jeff Schlupp - Hard to say, his pace may make him one of the best fullbacks in the prem, its upto him to prove it. Neil Danns - Free to Bolton Paul Gallagher - Sold to League 1 Liam Moore - In his ballpark to prove hes good enough for a starting place, currently looks good to be a sub, no matter what signings come in. Zoumana Bakoyogo - Given no chance to prove himself, not his fault, but will finds a new club or loan without problem. Gary Taylor-Fletcher - Age will catchup with him, all the best GTF, will be looking to retire to Melton Mowbray. Ignasi Miquel - Back to Arsenal and loaned out to Championship again where he'll prob get more game time, not worth bidding for imo. Anthony Knockaert - Controversially i think he will be the frenchman to struggle in the prem, will easily be bullied off the ball, his tricks will only get him so far. Conrad Logan - All dependant on the Schmeichel situation, will prob stay as a number 2 unless another Keepers bought in to battle Kasper. Riyad Mahrez - May shine in the prem, legts hope so. Marcin Wasilewski - Experience is key, give him a defensive coaching role! Kevin Phillips - Experience is key, give him a striker coaching role! Marko Futacs - Not many oppertunities to show what he can do, but when hes been given the chance, hes not really taken it. David Nugent - Has to be a straight swap for Vardy next season from the bench for me with a new partner for both of them. Chris Wood - Bencher that will sparsely be used.
