How do we look as a squad for this season? Our first and second string teams must look something like this (obviously people will disagree about who is first or second string):

    ------------Sz-------------
    Sagna----TV--Kosc---Santos
    -------Arteta----Wilshere---
    Walcott----Cazorla----Gervinho
    ---------------Podolski-------

    --------------Flappy-------
    Jenkinson---Mert--Djourou----Gibbs
    --------Sahin----Diaby----------
    Oxocube-----Rosicky-----Arshavin
    --------------Giroud-------------

With Ramsey, Coq and Chamakh for extra depth before looking to reserve players like Miquel or Yennaris.

I'm assuming we sign Sahin with the current gossip about and i think we may also add another player before the Transfer window opens.

To me we look pretty strong in most areas, with lots of options in the middle. Time will tell if the quality is good enough though!

What are all your thoughts on the depth of our squad for this season? Will we be caught short or do we have cover in the areas we will need it?

    Yes we do.

I think we've got someone lined up, Wenger said that Sahin was 'one of the names' - so it looks likely - personally I'd like to see us take this opportunity to buy a proper out and out DM and take Sahin on loan.

It won't happen, but I'd like to see another striker come in.

Agree, I'd love to see us bring in another striker, but I don't think that's going to happen.

I think Wenger is concentrating on some players that will increase defensive strength

I'm just wondering where the goals are going to come from. The midfield was way less productive last year and ok, it was only one game (indeed, their PL debuts), but Giroud and Podolski, although obviously quality, are not on the same level. If they start slowly, we could be in for a tricky time. Plenty of positives, though.

    Sahin has'nt actually signed yet.

If he does we'll be in a much better situation.

Sahin and Mvila and I'll be happy.

Please don't start a Koscielny discussion with TheBear. The stupid that will come from it will be unBearable.

Stupidity comes from both sides I think. Different people think Verm/Kos are amazing/rubbish. They're both "good" defenders with some faults.

After yesterday's game would it be right to assume that Mannone is now second choice keeper

Except no one really says that about Vermaelen. They just are aware that the last year wasn't the best from him considering the number of individual mistakes. He's a good defender, is passionate and scores important goals once in a while.

I agree, he had some poor form at the end of last season. However, this did result in people calling him a bad defender who "marauds forward too often". I find this strange because his marauding wasn't a problem before. It's the individual mistakes that were the problem, and I put that down to the bad form. I think he's a much better defender than Koscielny tbh. Some people on this forum just seem to have a man-crush on Kosc for some reason. I don't understand why.

Kos is our best CB, he slightly edges TV, and Mert is in the running as well.
