I'd never risk my birdseed budget on anything. I'm not daft enough to fall for a politicians patter, but I do think Gove was the best performing candidate last night. To be honest, I normally consider the man to be a bit of a boob.
I’m unable to express an opinion and am strictly impartial although I thought the blond did well (and I’m NOT talking about Emily Maitlis)
I like Boris. Last night I found him to be rather understated, though I do believe this was tactical. He's into the final, so why bother rocking the boat. Are there any more televised debates planned?
Boris has a gift for waffling gibberish and getting away with it. Reminded me a bit of Stanley Unwin. Still, no gaffes, which is all he needs to do really.
We can all have a bit of a laugh (or a cringe) at the England Women's Football team badge having Three Irons. But the stuff this guy is coming out with is not funny at all. We all have the potential for primitive behaviour within us, but to excuse and protect those tendencies by wrapping your religion around them is something we overcame hundreds of years ago in this part of the world. Nobody is perfect, but the dominant half of any society cannot shift the blame for its actions onto its victims, saying "you must be more careful, because you know what we're like."
The BBC have a lot of explain to do today. This was a high profile live news event, and the BBC should have vetted the “ordinary members of the public” who appeared on it. This vile Corbynite creature was anything but ordinary. What are the odds that he’s on benefits as well ?
The trouble is that ordinary members of the public don't particularly want to appear on these programs. The Glaswegian lass was good though, showed them up for the bunch of charlatans they are.
Somebody pointed out recently that more and more MP's are full time politicians straight from school or college. Many now have no experience of doing a job in any other sector. This is a bad situation. If I could make the rules I'd say nobody can become an MP unless they have worked for ten years at least in another sector. Preferably also a decent amount of time in one profession at least, rather than a string of 'gig economy' jobs. How many of those candidates for Prime Minister have held down a job in something other than politics for any amount of time? A proper job too, not being a non-executive director for one day a month.
It would make a change for someone with an education background to be education secretary for instance. This would also apply to shadow education secretary.
It would be a change in the Labour Party to have a leader who actually believed that you need an Army.
The reason for my suggestion is that it would raise the level of debate above this sort of yahboo politics.
Don’t we have the lowest amount of soldiers since WW1 under the tories? (I’m not defending Corbyn, I think he’s a ****er)
You need a police force, as well as other emergency services too, but the Tories have hacked away at them too, while cheerfully claiming they haven't.
The two candidates for PM should have to undergo an hour-long interview with Andrew Neil. Sir Lynton would never allow it though.
