Sky Sports website said:
Modric made no secret of his desire to move across London when news of Chelsea's interest surfaced and he insists his position has not changed.

But the 25-year-old is reluctant to discuss what might happen as he focuses on the start of the new Premier League campaign.

"I don't want to talk about that, I said before what I think and that's it," Modric told RTE Sport.

"I said a lot of things before and still everything is the same at the moment. I will see - I'm still waiting."

Robbie Keane is another player who has been tipped to leave White Hart Lane this summer, having fallen down the pecking order over the past couple of seasons.

He has already had loan spells with Celtic and West Ham, but Modric is a big fan and hopes Spurs keep hold of the Irishman.

"I would like him to stay but I know he wants to play," Modric said.

"If that is not possible at Tottenham, he will probably try to find other options, but I would like him to stay and to play for us.

"He's a great player. What can I say? I don't know what will happen."

Curious statement. The first bit suggests he wants to leave, but the second half suggests he is staying - if not why would he care where Keane goes?

I think its because he just played against him and was probably nearby.
how about this for a strange response.
"Asked whether he would still be at the club at the end of the transfer window, Modric smiled, said, "See you", and walked away."

Wait for the Chavs...

You called:)

He is saying he wants to leave, but is a professional who is under contract with Tottenham, and that there are to be no more speculative interviews on the subject.

As such he is focussed on preparing for the season with you, and in that same mindset is keen to see Keane stay and compete for his place and help Tottenham, "us", in their endeavours this year.

The underlining issue which is clear in what he has said is that if a price is agreed between the clubs he is willing to leave WHL.

To be honest, I'm as bored of it as you lot<ok>

He did'nt exactly come out and say" I want to pay for Tottenham and I am staying here".
Until I hear those words I fully believe that Modric and his agent are still trying to make the transfer happen.
BTW...this is the first time I've heard him speak and for a dwarf he has quite a deep voice.

I'd take it as "**** off - I have nothing more to say to people like you who are known to be corrupt, dishonest and manipulate what is said to suit their own agenda and cause trouble." However as that is fairly hard for someone to come out and say when English isn't their first language than "See you" will do.

The key sentence from that interview is "If that is not possible at Tottenham, he will probably try to find other options, but I would like him to stay and to play for us."

PLAY FOR US - us = Spurs, us DOES not mean anyone else, so for those of you thinking it means otherwise feel free to do one <steam>.

I think, Ensil, that he may also have received a few words of "advice" from Levy about speaking to the Press. Particularly, the Tabloid scum.

You could be right - in which case it would appear that Levy owns Modric <diva> However remember that the interview was with RTE, Eire's BBC equivalent - I thought Modric came out smelling of roses to be honest.

I haven't seen it mate. I just hope we can do well enough this year, to keep him.

No disrespect Ensiluo but are you trying to say Modric is happy at Spurs and does not want to leave? If so you really need to pull your head from out of the sand. Fair play if Levy can resist the offers from Chelsea but expect a final bid come deadline day, Will Levy be able to stick to his guns? Im hopeful but to businessmen and lets not forget that is what Levy is money talks.
