How often d´you suppose He who blows Will blow both at home and away, When on the team sheet The same two teams meet Not very often, I would say So who will it be The game´s referee When we welcome Saints to our den, Who´s up for the task Well you may ask None other than Clattenburg M Now although it´s nice To see some refs twice Or maybe even more than that, His wasn´t the name I´d hoped for this game Bearing in mind our recent spats And it does seem odd To choose the same bod As in our first meeting last year, Although then I guess It´s easy to address Those faces he´ll recognise here But what the FA Do on a matchday Is sometimes hard to understand, A ref from oop north Let´s make him set forth On two of the longest trips in the land.
Ah well, I wonder if he'll award Saints a 'dubious' penalty - ie for something that happens in all games week in, week out?? He certainly seems to favour the opposing teams when he's been in charge of our matches.
Hi RBF, I think what upset me most about his poor performance at Wet Sham, was that it came very soon after McNally had welcomed the clearing of his name, calling him a top referee! He certainly wasn't on top form that day!
Hasn´t recently done himself any favours with the Yellow Army, I must admit JR, but innocent until proven................ and all that. Seem to remember down at St. Marys he was at least consistent, he allowed a handball in the build up to their goal, and then gave Snoddy a free kick, that maybe wasn´t, which led to our goal. (or was that some other game?)
I think he's one of the top referees out there. Every club seems to have a gripe with a certain referee but I have never felt the need to slate Battenburg as I've always considered him as a very good referee..
