Curbishley, Hoddle, Di Canio or maybe even a real fighter like Paul Ince anyone?? SL would need to splash the cash for the first two. Thoughts? I know Dels not gone yet...but I think the clock is ticking and the board needs to be prepared.
I think it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference who you bought in - better off spending the money on improving the squad as chances are, any of the 3 you name would insist on this anyway as the shortcomings of the current midfield/defence are plain for all to see. The mighty Dave Jones isn't doing so well, noone wants to employ Davies and lets see how long the McCarthy effect lasts. The grass isn't always greener...
You're going to be SO disappointed if Del goes when you see the shortlist of managers that will apply! Shame you didn't post on here with such enthusiasm when we were doing well under Mckinnes?
Again I hope he stays because the alternatives aren't any better. It's the bloody dressing room that needs to go! Maybe not all but those who are well past their sell by date!
Paul Ince, for the love of... di canio will never come here..curbishley won't a possibility.. hoddle..
When were we doing well? Can't remember. Oh and I did come on here and held my hands up when we didn't go down, but I felt that was more luck than judgement.
Stay with Del Boy...he and his troops are the ones to turn this miserable series of results around!! Onefore....why where we lucky last season, we deserved to stay up...end of!!!!!!!!
Onefor on a previous post your saying experienced manager at this level then on this one you name Di Canio and Ince. Di Canio would be my choice but in fairness has no experience, and Ince ****ed up massively in the prem with Blackburn they were dire and not done much since in the lower leagues. But be reasonable we won't even be able to entertain the thought that Curbishly would even think of coming here we tried before got a knock back. And I doubt Hoddle would as well but both of those two have been out of work for so long now. As Banksy says if it happens the short list would be ****e and who would want it anyway. We lost out to 4 defenders and 1 midfielder plus Del wanted to keep Cisse so at least he knows what's ****ed. We have a rotten core of a team that needs to be shunted out and replaced.
No way would we get Curbs or Hoddle - we haven't even got the money to get a decent defender or Midfielder, so we wouldn't waste money on them when they'll only do a Coppel as soon as they realise there's no money left in the transfer kitty. And besides, are they really in touch with the Championship any more - would they still have the right contacts? A new manager at the moment would have the same problems but with even less money to bring anyone in on loan and honeymoon periods generally dont last that long these days. Drafting in a Director of Football or a strong coach for an interim period maybe the way to go (or maybe a better physio to stop all these bloody injuries!)...I for one hope Del does turn it around. The club desperately need to start generating more income soon otherwise we'll really be in the **** - where's this blood stadium?! :-(
I have a feeling Hoddle would be excellent, but for him to be effective would cost a lot of money. If we are going to spend on players lets see what Del brings in, while stressing the need for the bleedin obvious
I agree, it was only suggestions, I didn't say I wanted them although Di Canio could be interesting but could also be a bomb waiting to go off.... Although I'm not keen on Ince, he did manage Blackburn (although not very well) but knows the level required. (by the way, again, not my cup of tea) but probably better than what we have.. Someone like Hoddle or Curbs would be the level I would like
If the money had been spent wisely it may have been a different story....which is my point. It's been wasted on could be's and has beens. Ha ha, as for the stadium, we can say bye bye to that for many years if we go down, also ANY decent players and if Del is still here when we go down, he will either resign or be fired. Will this be another gamble by SL which will bite him where the sun don't shine??
See if we went down under Hoddle, I would TRUST him to get us back up within two seasons and we would continue to progress properly.... IMO that won't happen under Del.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer anyone? Give him his break in the English game whilst he builds his experience and reputation to manage United one day. Just led Molde to their second consecutive league title. We would probably get a few Utd youngsters on loan too from Fergie.
I think that SL is just waiting for the right man to come available - no point in sacking McInnes without a ready replacement. Wild shot in the dark, but I hope we are waiting for Nigel Adkins to come available from Southampton and then we will move like a shot for him. I really hope so. He has worked wonders with his teams. You heard it here first.
Good shout, but he has been rumoured a few times reportly to other clubs and has not been interested. If we were to get rid of Del I doubt we would be attractive to any manager.
Nigel Adkins would be a good shout, would not have a problem there,or will warnock become avaliable that would do me down to the ground.
