George Galloway is always banging on about Cuba's health service and by all accounts it is very good.

A few of years back, after Castro the elder died, young Castro lifted the ban on Cuban citizens owning a computer. AFAIK, the ban on accessing the internet remains. Galloway never would answer or indeed acknowledge my questions about this on his Talksport show. Great healthcare, no personal freedom.

Where did I mention their system of governance? Gadaffi in stalking me shocker!!!

Absence of democracy doesn't equal tyrannical does it now. we are talking about a nation with one of the best healthcare systems in the world, for free! Education up to university is free! Did you know they offered to help New Orleans in the wake of Katrina after getting a battering themselves, America refused out of spite. Better people die than have an evil, tyrannical country help them eh.

Take your head out of Murdoch's rags and actually recognise that capitalism and democracy have their own failings for once

Cuba also developed a vaccine for Meningitis in the early 70s but abviously it wasnt profitable for the US so wasnt allowed past the blockade. Better people died and all that

    No <grr>

Listen to the free marketeers <grr>

If Cuba was a democracy, it could be as affluent as, say, Mexico or Chile <laugh>

Cuba also gives more help, medically, to international tragedies than any other nation on Earth by ratio of population.

They even offered to help out The Great Satan during Hurricane Katrina while the "Leaders of the free world (sic)" continued their embargo.

    Hasta La Victoria Continua.

    Nicaragua Nicaraguita

    etc. <ok>

    Fidel Castro isn't dead?

He did however hand over to his brother Raul in 2006...

George Galloway is a total ****.

    I think that's about it...<ok>

The following is shamelessly copied from the New Internationalist website based on a UNESCO report

My mate is half Spanish and has family in Venezuela - he visited them as a boy in the pre-Chavez days and also visited Cuba - both the rural areas and Havana.

He repeatedly stated that health, well-being and general wealth (ability to eat etc) was 100 times better in Cuba than in Caracas and the surrounding suburbs.

I'd rather be Cuban than Peruvian, Mexican etc etc.

It's no wonder that the democracies of South America are becoming progressively more left leaning when they can witness what can be achieved when you're not subserviant to "Um Massa"

Just when I thought you couldn't talk more pish, you've came out with this little pearler.

Latin America have traditionally been left leaning dictatorships for many a year. How anyone can advocate soclialism when a glance east towards Asia shows what can be achieved when you adopt Capitalism.

It's not perfect, but it's the best system we've got.

What, you mean like Pinochet? (Right wing - overthrew democratically elected Socialist government with the help of the US)
    Like Batista? (see Pinochet brackets)
    Like Peron?
    Like Galtieri?
    Like João Goulart?
    Like Tejada in Bolivia?

On the left, I can only think of Cuba as having a left wing dictatorship - the other left-leaning governments have been elected - the list of fascist dictatorships backed by our government and the US goes on and on and on.
