One of those matches you want to get in and out as quickly as possible. No injuries will be a bonus and a draw would not be such a bad result.
We've got a three o clock home game following it, against a poor team who we should beat. That makes a very refreshing change after a European game.
A serious test for us. A team with nothing to lose and will be playing with no expectation getting anything from this game. On the other hand we are expected to win and win well. The sort of match we would draw 0-0 last season.
What, Crystal Palace at home? They have no points and no goals, I expect nothing less than at least a three goal win. The **** they are a serious test.
Last season I thought they'd turn us over only because Jose said he'd play the kids, but otherwise I completely agree, we should be looking to bang them sideways.
Personally I'd rather be playing one of the other big teams after a European game, for the simple fact they also would have had a European game, so neither team would have an advantage over the other. The situation City and Chelsea find themselves in this weekend is ideal if you ask me. Admittedly Crystal Palace are playing so badly that it shouldn't be a problem, but I've just never bought into the theory that you want to be playing the small sides after European games, as I think that's when the shock results can happen.
I agree, there could be a tendency to relax a little against a supposed easier opponent after a big CL game which could lead to a terrible shock to the system. Luckily I think Jose is the type of manager that will warn against this and maybe even make unexpected changes if he thinks players not involved in the CL game will have more hunger/focus.
In regards this game, it's one of those where you fancy the team can get the win, but then again you'd be satisfied with a point. Any away game in the CL is always difficult, especially Moscow in the cold and on the plastic pitch, as we know from past experience. I fancy we can win all our home games, so if we just pick up a few points away we should get through comfortably.
I don't entirely agree, WHERE we have played has to be taken into account, which I was doing. Would you prefer to be playing City after an away game in Moscow when they've just played Shaktar at home for instance? The simplest PL game the better after a visit to Moscow. And Crystal Palace at home is exactly that.
eh I want to win, **** a draw. Early qualify so we can rest players in the last game or 2 of the group. Won't be easy tho.
And I would deff rather have Palace at home after a midweek game than city or Chelsea regardless if they've played as well.
I am cautious because Palace cannot be **** forever. They have had 2 weeks with Hodgson now who must have given them some defensive and midfield solidity. Remember City took nearly a whole half to break them down. Once they've been broken they'll ship in afew goals. I am sure JM won't let complacency set in but last season we drew 10 of these so called easy matches. So far so good but we need to win most of our home matches to challenge for the title. 1-0 wins are good for difficult teams away but winning well against the bottom sides - to mirror City who won 5-0 - is important just to keep up.
