I'm doing a cryptic crossword at the moment. One of the clues is: Disclose Alf's action? (3,3,3,3,2,3,3) The first word begins with 'L' and the last word begins with 'B'. The phrase 'let the cat out of the bag' fits, and would make sense in terms of the 'disclose' part of the clue. However, I'm a bit baffled over the 'Alf's action' part. The only vague idea I had was that Peter Bonetti (nicknamed 'the Cat') played for England under Alf Ramsay. Does anyone know if the phrase 'let the cat out of the bag' was ever used in connection with Bonetti and/or Ramsay? A google search reveals nothing.
The ALF tv series about an Alien Life Form had it's main character often trying to eat the family pet cat. Really weird clue if that's what it's referring to, though. please log in to view this image
He put the cat’s bag over his head and gaffer taped himself up all because nobody replied to his thread.
Otto was a good man, a nice man, he had dreams... mainly about going on countdown, and he had nice hair that he gelled forwards with a comb each morning, he had a nice cat, and loved to take it for walks along the canal, in its bag. Otto wanted nothing more than warm companionship, but he went looking in all the wrong places... if only he had found the PL board today, with great people on, new faces who like to laugh and jump and skip... oh well. RIP Otto.
