It's great to be able to forget all our woes and talk about football for a change but a spoonful of reality is needed at the moment..........it is still possible that Argyle might still not make it to the start of the season.......obviously no optimism from this quarter at present...........just take note of this and go your own way.

NEWSNOW reporting today on the THIS IS PLYMOUTH website report the following...........That the representatives of the consortium wanting to buy PAFC are meeting today (17th) with council planning officers regarding their plans for the purchase of PAFC..............end of quote.

We know their aim is development of the site and possibly council land around Home Park. This would obviously be a requirement of them going ahead with the purchase, making it a more advantages development for them to proceed.

THIS IS PLYMOUTH also remind us..........that council leader Vivien Pengelly said that development restrictions on Central Park would not be relaxed.........end of quote.

OK we know all things are negotiable, and the council have spelt out their position. Central Park is there for all in Plymouth to enjoy and the Council are only stating the obvious and so they should.

This meeting is just before tuesdays (21st) crucial cash deadline for the consortiums next influx of funds. their exclusivity deal is worth one million pounds,at present they have forked out only £200.000,the final payment is required by the end of the month.

So the pressure is on,if the council stand by their comments on not relaxing development restrictions on Central Park then the consortium I feel will just walk away and Guilfoyle will have to start again.

The Administrators will do what regarding this phantom consortium, take them to court to get the missing £800.000, and who pays the legal fees, a penniless PAFC.

Yes I am definately not an optimist at a time like this, lets just hope it doesn't get that bad and things work out.

They'd have been bonkers to go this far, incurring their own transaction costs as well as the payments to the club, on the basis that the Council were going to move far from their published planning policy for Central Park.

And the fact they are talking to the Council is a reassuring sign - they wouldn't be doing that and risking credibility if it already looked likely they'd be pulling out.

However, I agree generally it's still a very worrying time, anything could go wrong.

    I agree with Distant.

Plus I seem to remember reading back at the beginning of this process that the Council were happy with their plans for the area around Home Park so I am optimistic that an agreement can be made. :emoticon-0150-hands

Interesting interpretation of the word "exotic" there Mexijan.

I'm trying to picture where you go on holiday. Dnipropetrovsk perhaps, capital of Ukrainian iron & steel production?

All respect to Gillingham, but I can remember dying of exposure on the terraces there a few years back.

The wind and rain blowing off the thames estuary was something to behold..........exotic it aint .

Actually with all this doom and gloom I'm beginning to wonder if plymborn has morphed into the surfer. Not quite as colourful in posts it's true but the same sense of "you are screwed" keeps popping out. Come on plymborn, you can do optimist if you really try.

Got a Blue Nose certificate whilst serving on a Survey Ship some years ago. Arctic Circle is a tad chilly at times so nowhere in the UK holds any fears. Not that I venture out of Devon for football matches though.

Doom and gloom, what are you talking about................I've never pretended to be an ostrich with my head in the sand scared to face facts.

I find it is better to understand what the situation is and be informed, I don't think you can categorize me as a "you are screwed" type of merchant.

Being an optimist doesn't mean you walk in the rain saying what a lovely sunny day it is.

Things don't always come out in the wash, or say what will be will be,none of those comments are very productive at the end of the day.

I am disappointed the way PAFC has been treated in the last few years, but of course what will be will be, it's in the stars so it's bound to happen......what total rubbish that attitude is and should not be considered.

If toady had been overseen and had his wings clipped, a lot of this wouldn't have happened to Argyle.

Well I wouldn't exactly call you happy go lucky as far as Argyle is concerned plymborn so doom and gloom seems to fit the bill. You almost had as many euphamisms as the surfer as well in your reply. Nobody is being an Ostrich as far as I can see. We all know we were managed badly, let down and a thousand other things not done well. I'm glad you "understand" the situation because I sure as hell don't. I am not a business man and never have been. I don't profess to understand all the wheeling and dealing stuff, apart from embargos and point deductions what Administration entails in reality. I don't understand how the football league works and what is fit and proper. I know what I consider proper and the dealings and mismanagement of the previous Board is not it.

Let me ask you one question if I may. If a suporter does not accept that what will be will be then what exactly will they do about it? What punch do they have. What would they do to change any of this. Apart from stay away and cut off their nose to spite their faces that is. That is the only power a suporter has. Where did it get the Aston Villa fans with the appointment of their new manager? There are many more of them than us but demonstrating outside the ground got them exactly where? Actually that is more than one question although it all forms part of the same one.

I am not burying my head anywhere. I am just sitting back and waiting till somebody tells me the club has died or season tickets go on sale. I still refuse to accept as said many times by me that the club will go under. I will accept anyone who saves this club from extinction. I may not like them very much but at least I will have somewhere to still go on a Saturday afternoon and will be grateful for that.

Actually sensible you have chosen a very good example, I had already thought exactly what you just said. The Villa fans' protest was an excellent show of defiance by the fans but it got them nowhere and I thought it was just Argyle fans that got treated with contempt. Bet they are as mad as hell but they have to get on with it, same as we do.

They could all do a surfer and withdraw their support through the turnstiles of course to carry the protest on. But, what would that achieve. They would not get their fix from attending matches. The club would suffer financially. That may have a knock on affect with any success or more to the point failure. Enough even to get them relegated. So the net result would be detramental to themselves in the end if that were to happen. Ergo, they have had their say, it hasn't been taken a blind bit of notice of, and they all troop off to the match come kickoff. Owners win again.

Sensible, owners always win. We have to sit and wait. We will get some news soon i hope and it will or has to be good, we have had enough bad news. I don't think the club will die. Hope fully Ridsdale will get us up and running, slowly but surely.
