Retired for good (age 22) because he was going to be on the bench for a game.

I'm not surprised he's pissed off really. 22 goals in 42 international games. In-terms of goal scoring, he's the best striker by far in the England squad. So **** knows why our lone striker options were Darren Bent in the starting 11 and Bobby Zamora as the sub. That's the best England have to offer?

Capello is a woeful manager and I can't wait until he's gone. It doesn't seem like he has a clue what he's doing. He appears to use every match to experiment with different formations and line-ups until he finds one that works. The whole point of having a bloody manager is that he should know what to do instead of plodding long with guesswork in the hope that something eventually falls into place.

I agree but we're at a bad point when Crouch becomes the best English striker. Bent's a pile of **** but there are better options to Crouch

    What Chappaz said <ok>

The cabbage man is ****ing woeful and is dragging this great footballing nation down each time he takes to the duggout.
He's so tactically inept it's unreal.
Negative, arrogant tosser who never was good enough for England and never will be!

To be fair Crouch has done nothing special for Spurs all season, whereas Bent was scoring goals for a poor Villa side. The most questionable decision was to leave Young out.

    Is there?

We need to look at the facts. 22 goals in 42 apps. Forget about club performances and forget about who we usually perceive as the best. When it's came down to it, Crouch has been our best performing international striker, with a much better goals to game ratio than even Rooney. Capello has to take that into account and realise that Crouch is one of the strikers which is most likely to score for England. More likely than bloody Bent and Zamora. Omitting him entirely is just insulting, and highlights Capello's continuing insistence to mess around with line-ups and never actually settle with a stable team.

And don't forget that Capello is the one who continued to choose Emile Heskey and even selected him in our primary squad for the 2010 World Cup. The man is a striker and has the primary role of scoring goals, yet he retired from England with 7 goals in 62 games.

Don't blame Crouch for not wanting to play for England - I for one hate watching England as they make me feel ill - what happens to these players who dazzle us week in, week out in the prem but are like rabbits caught in headlights - frightened to do anything individualistic as if there natural individual talent has been coached out of them (hear Chris Waddle's rant on the state of the English game!) - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2010/8767443.stm

I know Crouch is a bit of a one trick pony but his record does not lie - anyway, I looking forward to the time when we play 4-3-3 with either Carroll/Rooney/Zamora or Carroll/Rooney/Young up front - it will never happen as it too innovative for our current manager - Crouch should do a Shearer on concentrate on his club career!

Obviously we all say we would never turn our backs on England as we would all feel incredibly honoured to get the opportunity to do so
but I bet it's bastard hard playing under that plank.
