ok guys. You'll notice that there's a post below that is titled 'please ignore'. This is a thread that has been 'moved' to the Hull board as an experiment. If you open the link, you can post on the thread as normal, and it shows as a Hull board thread. If you like, we can do this with all match threads, though the opposite team is then given control of the thread, though we can delete the link from our board if the thread gets out of hand. I think, if we want it back, the opposite team's mod can switch it back to our board, but i'd have to check that. Any thoughts?
In all but a small handful of cases I'd prefer that the match threads were moderated from here. I think back to a particularly offensive post I made a few weeks ago against Devils that you rightly pulled me up on. A lot of mods from other Championship clubs would either have blocked me outright, or left it there because that is the sort of thing they want to see more of. It's odd to make an example of myself, but my point is that I think the safety net yourself and Dan bring match threads actually outweighs the benefit of fans of the more robust clubs having easy access. Obviously it would be nice to have both, but if we're forced to choose between the two, I'd go for you guys moderating.
Well, this is sort of undermining the decision made by those in power of this site, no? They removed cross board threads, so it seems silly to be finding loopholes around it. If people want it back, it should be brought to the attention of those who can properly bring it back.
point taken NNW MadMoose, they're aware of this loophole, and are also trying to figure out ways to bring back cross board threads that anyone can moderate. In the old system, if we posted a cross board thread, only we could moderate it, so if we were offensive, our opposition could do nothing about it, this system reverses that...but they're trying to find a way that both team mods can do it, they just haven't managed it yet. So, meanwhile, judging by the first two posts on this thread, we'll leave things be, and hope we get cross board threads back soonest!
I wouldn't say it reverses it, I'd say it pretty much solves the problem because you're still able to remove it if you need to. They were stopped because mods couldn't remove abuse from their own board if it started on another board and people were taking advantage of it to attack other forums. Under this system either set of mods can remove the thread from their own board so the issue is removed. It's effectively doing exactly the same as going on one forum and posting a link to a thread on the other but is using the site options to do it. Although I do see there is a difference between modding a thread and giving the oppo a link, and turning your thread over to the oppo board, it's just a case of us as mods not turning them over to daft sets of fans or unmoderated boards. With regards the undermining them, Syd has also said we just need to hear from Mick about whether it is possible within the coding to set it so that mods can make threads cross board but normal posters can't. Based on that it seems they're quite happy for mods to be making cross boards in a responsible way, and as far as I know we're the only ones that can do it. BTW - when it comes to the game against us in a couple of weeks I think it'll be quite safe to have one with us, and me modding it. (As it's your home game I assume you'll mostly be there, as far as I know I'll be at home listening to the game online, and it's in my interests for these to work since they were my idea)
Hull are very much the exception in this division unfortunately. Leeds (whisper it) haven't been too bad so far this time, but from memory Millwall, the Welsh and Hampshire are problem boards.
Like Bolton I am demob happy. I read your post a couple of times H and I still dont get it. Then again exams are much easier these days doncha think..... My view is that leave the mice as they are cos if you turn them into hamsters they cant think for themselves. Its Karma dont you think??
lol..now i'm lost...2RJ..does that mean you like the idea or you don't? Ak, we could do it that way, but then the mod from the other board would have to move it to our board..so we'd be relying on them to do that... Like Ricardo says, the problem has always been offensive posts and not being able to close offending threads. i suggest we try it with the Hull game, as we can trust Ricardo to mod it correctly, and see how it goes from there. Who knows, by then, Mick may have solved the problem altogether.
