Just scored their second (2-0)..Jelly not involved

Clear breakaway for Jelly on 72 mins. Couldn't control the ball - bit of a dive on edge of penalty area - should have done better. Made a good run however.

75th. goal (another player) disallowed for Jelly offside - bit unlucky with suspect call.

    Modric on.

    Mali scramble a goal - 2-1 Croatia. (79th).

Jelly in the right spot for a shot inside the box...point blank save by keeper off Jelly, Eduardo was offside however. Jelly should have buried it imo.

Full time. Verdict ? Positioned himself pretty well. When the couple of chances fell to him he wasn't as sharp as he should have been. The final squad to be announced later today apparently. Touch & go methinks, but I hope he makes it.

Just turned it on to see him falling over looking for the penalty, rather than taking the chance to slot it home.

Nothing new here. Eeyorvic getting himself in to excellent positions and failing to do the basics (kick the bloody ball).

Surprised he got in their World Cup squad to be honest, he's nowhere near good enough for international football.

    I'll go for 10 and 12 respectively.

How many total sitters do you think he'll miss for us this coming season Carmine?

He'll miss plenty of sitters, I don't doubt that.

I also reckon he'll score between 10-12 PL goals and 12-15 in all competitions.

Which would probably make him our top scorer.

    I think he'll score 8.

And I don't mean to do him a disservice by saying that, I think 8 goals a season is good for a striker in a team like ourselves in the Prem.

I reckon he'll get minimum 10 in the PL, so minimum 10-15 overall as long as he's fit. A lot will depend on who's our penalty taker, I would have thought Jelly would be second behind Brady but maybe first, might have some sort of thing written in his contract?

I think you exaggerate the number of missed sitters by Jelavic. Most of them have been one where he's at full stretch or quickly reacting to swing at something which flashes past him, chances which our other strikers wouldn't have connected with at all. He's a good finisher with both feet and head.

It won't, because we never get more than about 2-3 penalties a season. It's an unwritten football rule.

And he definitely won't have anything written in his contract about taking penalties, that'd be petty as ****.

I'd be happier if he'd stop taking our direct free kicks, Huddlestones way way better at them.

I like Jelavics free kicks. For ages we've had people trying to be clever squeezing it under the wall or trying to catch the keeper out at the near post and it never ever ever works for us. Jelavic just takes a good old fashioned Baines/Dawson style curl over the wall. Not hard and straight at it but actually over it... It's hard to do but much more effective when it works and he's got the skill to get it up and down. He'll score one before long.

Huddlestone is ace but he has to have it in a specific place a bit further out to get his Ronaldo-esque 'controlled chaos' going on as it fizzes about in the air.

Sort of agree with the first part, not good enough for international football, what's that supposed to mean ?

All nations have a team, they generally pick the best from who they have. ( Woy and England excepted )

I’d go with about 8 but in all competitions and as PH suggests, this would be a decent return. He works hard for the team in all areas and I think he’ll contribute a few assists too.

However, I think he should be banned from taking pens and free kicks.

If Bruce continues playing Fig, then I’d rather he was given more direct free kicks, along with Shane Long.

Finally, in terms of who’s hard in the squad, I reckon Jelavic is quite hard. Probably in the top 3. Dunno who’s cock though now Faye’s left.

Forgot about Sagbo. Jelavic and maybe Mcshane might be joint second cocks.

Quinn will be brave but might have a glass chin.
