Some people are saying that Berba's contribution has not been enough, either (a) because he's not scoring in Europe or (b) because he's not scoring in big games.

The former reason I believe is null and void. Europe is not the be-all and end-all, far from it. The Premier League is our "bread and butter" and the most important competition we play in every season.

The latter reason I think is misleading. Games against Chelsea, Arsenal, City (I would say Liverpool but he bagged a hat-trick against them) are worth 3 points. Games vs Blackpool, Blackburn and Birmingham are also worth 3 points. Obviously beating your rivals is important, but in the grand scheme of things, points win prizes.

Below is a list of our leading attacking players this season, and how many points their goals have got us:

    Hernandez- 12
    Berbatov- 11
    Rooney- 9
    Nani- 8

Assists are also important of course, but I think that overall Berba has made a very important contribution to our league campaign, and if we do win the title back, I hope he gets the recognition he deserves.

It may be a little unfair but in certain games he is terrible wouldn't get in a Sunday league team. However he can also be brilliant. Over this season he has been quite consistant but this would be his best season by far. I don't think he's proven his worth overall. I am a little biased though and you lot are obviously going to back your player.

Dunno about Sunday league team - he'd walk into the first team of any club outside the top 5/6. But he is a player who needs a bit of space in order to do his thing. If he gets half a yard of space when he receives the ball, he'll ruthlessly punish you, but if he's marked out of the game he can go missing. That's why he struggles against top physical defenders who are good man markers like Terry, Kompany and Puyol, but when he goes up against defenders with slightly dodgy positioning like Skrtel and Samba he cleans up.

berba is far too inconsistent. its pointless scoring 4 or 5 in one game and then going on a barren run..until you score another 3 or 4 again. he needs more ones and twos regularly instead
