So Don Cortese has gone, the non English speaking manager is next, and the club is said to be up for sale . lets hope El Mirage or Al Fahim appear on the south Coast again! LOL It could not happen to nicer more modest bunch of supporters!
99% of them are fine, upstanding people. There's 1% who are complete knobs though, mostly on the Portsmouth News rather than here. Though I expect most reasonable Southampton fans would say the same about us.
Outside of Southampton this story has been bubbling around as a rumour since shortly after Markus died. You have to wonder though, with all that inherited fortune, how much money does one person need? Word is that the club has actually been on the market since last summer.
Our demise was very quick due to the rogue owner factor, maybe yours will be too, lets hope so! At least we actually own our club and get 15k + crowds despite our position, your club on the other hand could be sold off and all the assets and players sold to rake in frau L's fat pension fund!
If true, I would find it a bit ironic given the stick some of their fans gave us for spending beyond our means when our "rich" owner called in debts and stopped bankrolling us. Not that I actually wish any ill upon them mind you, I've always kind of liked Southampton as a club, but it would be ironic.
The proverbial sh*t will hit the fan if Mauricio decides to follow his beloved Nicola out of the club....... Where do they go from there one wonders ?
My Polish sources(following the Euro Championships tour) tell me that despite reports to the contrary, the Argy will only stay until after the Sunderland game, after which he will be leaving and returning to his native dago country! Also I am told by sources close to the EPL that the Pie Eater, Adam Banana and some bloke called Shaw are all off before the window shuts, or maybe I should say the door shuts after the Don and the Argy...........good times
I think the whole thing was a difference between Cortese and the Liebherr family. He wanted more investment and they didn't. He's made similar thinly veiled threats before. Also the comment by Pocchetino about leaving was probably taken out of context, but it does leave him in a position, where what he says and what happens may not always be the same. If I've learnt one thing from reading comments on Southampton's forum, it's that you shouldn't get too cozy as a football supporter. Southampton and Portsmouth's rise and falls are all down to who's got the money. Some of the Southampton fans, judging by what I've read, would make rather poor fans if they followed Portsmouth. Yes they have had a couple of bad days, but it doesn't come close by a very large margin to what we've been through, even throwing in the years preceding the Liebherr era. When our club was at it's lowest nadir, we didn't sit around and do nothing, bar a few feeble charity matches or some other scheme, we put our collective hands in our pockets to save it and I'm proud to support a club that is almost unique in that fact.
Liebherr bought the club for about 12 million, as far as I know. That's more than 5 times what the PST raised. Sadly, we only have twice as many fans as you, so it would have been fruitless.
I heard some chinese business man who is linked with Chainrai is in talks with Ms Liebhr, I also heard Shaw is in talks to leave
