Crewe were relegated Who are Ya? The Railwaymen were formed in 1877 and were founder members of the Second Division in 1892. They failed re-election after four seasons, the last two of which they finished bottom. They returned to the Football League in the new Third Division North in 1921 and remained there for its entirety, until 1958 when they finished bottom and started the following season in the new Fourth Division. They got their first taste of promotion in 1963, when they finished 3rd but were relegated the next season. The same happened shortly afterwards; promotion in 1968 and relegation in ’69. In 1997, having finished 6th in Div 2 [League One], they beat Luton [against whom they’d lost 6-0 away in the league] in the play off semis, before winning promotion to the 2nd Tier by beating Brentford in the final. They played 8 of the following 9 seasons in what is now The Championship, but relegations in 2006 and 2009 saw them once again in the 4th tier. They gained promotion to League One at the end of last season, via the Play Offs. Match Odds (at Skybet) Pompey: 23/20 Crewe: 11/5 Draw: 23/10 Mystic Devo Pompey had a bad day at the office on Tuesday evening; crashing out of the Paint Pot to League Two Wycombe, while The Alex progressed with a win at Shrewsbury. In the league, Pompey have only one home win and Crewe one away win. The Railwaymen’s win came in a 2-1 win in their first trip (to S****horpe on 21st August). Pompey, after 1 point in 4 league games at home, won their most recent fixture – a 2-1 win - against S****horpe! Devo reckons: Pompey 2-1 Crewe
Well- after my predictions two and three games ago- where I went for big Pompey losses, and resulted in Pompey winning, I'm going back to old tactics. That's after I predicted a thumping home win for us last night- which resulted in a 3-1 loss. Crewew 19 - -1 Pompey
2-0 Mcleod does some-thing we couldn't manage last week by SCORING a penalty. Let's see if the lads can do some-thing else they couldn't manage - hold on to a 2 goal lead!
2-0 against a team looking for their third win in a week! Thinking about it, we've never been on a long, unbeaten run under Apples. (We quite often do at some point with other managers- in Cotterrill's first season in charge, we went on that fine 9 game unbeaten run, mixed in with many victories.) Maybe this is the start of our next a couple of years later- and it's about time! Does anyone else think, if we make the play-offs, we would get through them and promoted ?? I reckon if we can reach them, we could do it- but I have doubts as to whether this form is temporary, or will last a few months. Also, the 10 point penalty will damage our chances significantly. At the minute though- I think we're unbeaten in four/five matches now in League One?! Apples is working his magic now, PUP!
Crewe all over the place - they aren't coping with McLeod and Thomas. 4 cards for our players (1 for Crewe) and the Ref gets booed off.
It looks like we are getting a bit reckless, what with all the yellow cards, 3rd eye. But I forgive the ref, as he awarded us a penalty! How are you following the match ??
I paid for a subscription to the Cherries player - £40 for the year, but I have to listen to the opposition commentary as Pompey aren't part of the BBC deal. Plus logged into the News live chat. How about you?
We got two for time-wasting. Harsh, when one was given deep into injury time, when we were 2-0 up and in control. (Luke Rodgers') At least that's three wins and a draw from our past four games! And both strikers on the scoresheet is always a plus! PUP
Another good win by the looks of it and soon you will maybe be able to still remain safely above the drop zone when the minus 10 comes into effect.
If we were to play, it would be a close, exciting game and football would be the winner! Unlike the last time Southampton played Farnborough, when Southampton lost!
Very true Pl. You do seem to be getting a team spirit going with your lot though and hopefully you will soon have your off field problems sorted.
