Evening everyone! I don't post very often on here and when I have posted in the past I have been critical of Rodgers (last season) as Gerrez may remember. I was critical because last season, BR seemed to make a hash of his tactics and seemed out of his depth against some of the opponents. He also looked like he didn't have a clue how to change things up and improve our performances in some of our games - This season I must admit he has more than impressed!

We are still shaky in defence but today we seemed to have turned a corner (I know, one game isn't enough to make a full judgement) and that, as we all know, has been a huge problem. I don't think that it would have made much of a difference if we hadn't conceded as many. That may only be a defining element come the end of the season. He has brought about a fantastic transformation in Skrtel, even, to a degree, seeing a slight reduction in the shirt pulling in the area.

The midfield still has a long way to go and will be a key area of concern come the summer transfer period with, in my humble opinion, maybe Lucas leaving (don't shoot me but I think we could free up the money used on his salary) to bring in a box to box midfielder that can put in a string challenge and boss the game more frequently. He has done a great job but I think we could get a different type of player and we should certainly be looking with the prospect of CL looking more likely!.

The strikeforce speaks volumes without much need of a narrative from me, however, if we do get that coverted return to the top table of europe's elite then we need to add to it and not just depth but definite first team challangers who can come in and make an instant impact. SAS have undoubtably put themselves well and truly in the books for all of us to talk about with great pride for many years to come and rightly so, but we need players of a certain calibre now to help us on to the next level.

Today has seen me (again don't shoot me) admit, for the first time all season that we are well and truly in the title race, whether we like it or not (stating the bloody obvious). This set of players that we placed our hopes in at the start of the season for a top 4 finish. That other fans said weren't good enough for any top side squad, that weren't of the same standard as United's champions team wouldn't be in the top 4. Thos same opposition fans are now looking on enviously. I have just started to live the same dream I had as a child and desperately want us to win the league. Not only for me and my own self gratfication but for Steven Gerrard and the fact that it would be a crime for him to go through his career without a premier league winners medal!

The guy (despite his flirtations with a move away from the club once upon a time) has been an amazing servant and today lamented himself in our history books as our all time leading goalscorer. Along the way, helping SAS beat the 14/15 year record of 42 goals for our strike duo (Fowler and Collymore) so I hope with all hope that we can get that first premier league crown...For our very own unquestionable 'Captain Fantastic!'

Leading goal scorer against Utd I believe, but they were in the doldrums when we were in our prime. Only 2 short of KK tally and amazingly only 12 short of fowler!!!
I certainly believe we can win it this year, but then again I believe that every year!

Fair play mate. Would be nice if a poster named muppetfindergeneral would do the same, but hey.

What I like about Rodgers is, although he does make the odd tactical error like against Villa, he seems to learn and take it as experience gained.

He's a very positive manager too and certainly knows his trade.

I agree with Bow, it would be nice ofr MFG (and Wishy) to show their face and offer their views now.

The great thing about this side is that nobody believes that it is the finished article - or anywhere near it! However, we are now moving into a totally new phase where the most important thing is to ensure that those players who we do bring in actually do enhance the team and the squad.

Yeah sorry tx5 typed this whilst getting our son settled for the night so yeah leading scorer against united. BR is learning along with his player but what lessons he's learnt! Genuinely don't care where united finish because for me, it's all about us!!
