    Spurs fan in peace.
Fair play on your performance so far tonight absolutely unbelievable. If you turn this round it will be one of the most amazing things I've seen in my 20 years plus of watching football! That wasn't easy for me to say!

AOC is an unreal player. He is a pure footballer that is blessed with amazing speed and power. The perfect mix.

Might be too early for him and it could damage his confidence if he doesn't play well or even ends up unused.
He may benefit more from featuring in the Olympic squad.

I know downing is left footed but I would rather have oxlade chamberlain on the left cutting in. He could be as good as bale although I'm sure you gooners will say he's better already!!

Euro 2004 was not too early for Rooney and Euro 2012 is not too early for AOC.

Rooney had played 67 Premier League games and 13 times for England before Euro 2004, scoring several times in internationals.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has yet to feature for his country and has only made a handful of appearances for Arsenal.

He seems to be a very big prospect, but it might actually harm his development if he were picked for the Euros at this stage.

Then you have clearly not watched much of AOC this season. He might be 18 but he does not play anything like it. England need him. The guy is very mature and will handle it. Also, there are not big expectations on England anyway. Why not take the chance to blood some of the best youngsters? **** the likes of Downing and co.

I'd rather leave an empty place in the squad than take Downing. Dreadful player. I do think AOC deserves a call up, but the FA works in mysterious ways, so they'll pick Downing instead.

Blood some youngsters, by all means, but you have to understand the level of scrutiny and pressure that you put them under when they're in an England squad.
Picking someone like him will only intensify the spotlight of media interest, which might not be good for him just now.

Complete sense. Give the lad a miss with the Euro comp and let him have some fun at the Olympics instead.

His dad was a footballer and just need to watch the way his son speaks in interviews. The guy has been taught how to play and act from a very early age by his dad. Like I said, he is a player that plays with such a cool head. Before today he only played on the wings. He goes into the CM against AC Milan and does what he did. Leaving out a talent like this at home will be as idiotic as it gets. Olympics is too close to the season and that is my problem with that competition. You learn more from the Euro's against better teams and that is far better for his development. Also after tonight, I truly doubt he be left out of the Euro 2012 squad.

Let me put it another way.

This is an England side currently without a manager, with a bunch of players that have all been plagued by personal problems, who are mainly on their last legs.
Do you really want a young, impressionable player to be a part of that or would you prefer him to be part of a fresh start, picking up some less high-profile experience, instead?

You say that he'd learn more from the Euros, but there's nothing to say that he'd actually play.
Young and Downing appear to be ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment, for example.

Who said he needs to start? Also Downing ain't going to play ahead of Johnson. AOC off the bench. He is versatile and you need that in tournaments. After tonight, there is every chance now that he will go. Plus how likely is it that the likes of Terry and Lampard will go anyway? This tournament is the chance to blood the next generation before 2014.

Whoever takes the job isn't going to be given much time to make important changes, so I'd expect the squad to remain pretty similar to those that Capello chose.
The old guard should've been disposed of after the last tournament, but I feel that it's a little too late to start introducing young players now, especially when there's a viable alternative for them to gain experience.
