this was on the Sky NEws comment sabout Jack Cork signing for Saints ...hilarious "I am a burnley fan and i am disgusting. Burnley are a massivley bigger club than southampton and burnley offer him everything he needs. some good players guaranteed footy. everything. and anyway, southampton were in league1 about 2 months ago and i hope some time he'll come to his senses and change his mind. He only got where he i by playing for Burnley. he played in the premier league and had an amazing season last year but hopefully we can get another good midfielder. he fitted into the squad pefectly and all i can say is hes wrong. come back jack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Sorry who are burnely????? How many times and for how long have burnley played in the premier league??? how big is they re stadium??how many international players have played for them compared to saints over the last 20 years??? Loser!!!!!!!
We are having the same thing with Hull fans, they spent a little time in the prem recently and they seem to think they are bigger then us. Both Leicester and Southampton was established Premiership teams for along time, we wasnt there for a season or 2.
History blah blah. A- Posh have none worth talking about B- Your just a club that yo yo's at the moment and sells your better players and replaces them with cr*p, so will never achieve anything but point A. Oh and Congratulations ..................you also have Barry Fry up!!!!!!!!!
Anyone who thinks Burnley are a bigger club than Southampton is seriously deluded. You are living in the 1940,s. This all ended when the cotton mills closed!!
Now, now Saintsalive! Live and let live! The Burnley chap said he was disgusting - he's entitled to his opinion. I'm not going to argue.
The Premier League, or the old Div 1 for that matter is an ever changing entity, the fact that Burnley, Leicester and Southampton all graced the division over the years, and I'm going back to the 1950's/60's, means nothing, remember Leeds Utd? Hull City had been only in the top flight for 2 years, but during the 1960's consistently had better gates than most of the clubs in the top flight at the time. The our club is bigger than yours mentality is very childish, the main clubs, throughout the world have more or less stayed the main clubs in most countries for many years. Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal etc, Real Madrid/ Barcelona, Juventus/Inter, Ajax/and at one time Feyenoord, you get the drift. The rest of us make up the numbers and at times provide interesting opponents, no more no less, be it Hull City, Burnley, Leicester or Southampton.
right lets get it sorted. what have southampton done that burnley havnt? have they won premier league ?have the won old 1st division? burnley have. southampton will never be as passionate as burnley!!!! fact. we might not have the numbers but we sure do fight above our weight. hello to all championship fans. and im happy!!!! we win at derby and b...ards get beat at home too a last minute pen having missed 2 pens themselves oh happy days!!!
Us Addicks have to put up with the same ridiculous argument from our near-neighbours Millwall, whose fans seem to think that just because they've spent two years in a bigger division than us, it makes them a bigger and better club. History is what makes a football team, West Ham are a Premier League Club, Luton are a football-league club and Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Preston and ourselves are all clubs punching far below our weight. Anyone who believes that the present is all that matters is seriously deluded.
OK without being disrespectful to Southampton cos they not a bad club. How much major success have Southampton had ? one FA Cup in 76 thats it having said that you desrved to beat United any team that beat Man Utd really trully deserve to. Compare it with Burnley my team we have been Champions of England Twice, FA Cup winners once, Charity Shield Winners once, We played in the Euopean Cup and got the quarter finals in 1961 when we were robbed in Hamberg. Id like to hear your response Saints. UTC!

We've had a few trips to Europe over the years too, so not too shabby really. It's mostly ancient history, a bit like Burnley's sucess but it's part of our history and as fans we consider it a proud list.
