This is my local game as the Broadfield Stadium is only a few minutes from where I live so I'm really looking forward to going on Tuesday night. Both teams have made a winning start to their League campaigns and make no mistake this will not be a walk over for us! We have never lost at the Broadfield in the friendliest we have played there I the past and in fact we can boast a 100% Win record against Crawley. I'm pretty sure that Mick will shuffle his pack and I wouldn't be surprised if Teddy Bishop, Henshall, Marriott, Nouble and Bartolski all start with Goldy coming on in the second half. If any of you guys are coming down for this one I shall be delighted to meet up beforehand for a beer pre match. I'm going for a 2 Nil win Marriott Nouble
I fancy we'll stick with the same back 4 as Saturday but switch the midfield around and Henshall, Wordsworth & Bru will all get starts, as will Nouble up top. I think we'll huff and puff and make hard work of it but scrape a 3-2 in extra time
Another really interesting and indepth analysis by HarryfromBath on the TWTD website regarding Crawley Town ahead of the game. http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/25548/were-at-home-to-ipswich-great-stuff--notes-for-crawley
Im going 2-0 Crawley with westie. I can see us giving the ressies a game, Badger will probably get an hour to get his fitness up.
The last three seasons in the LC we have lost to Northampton, Carlise and Stevenage. I know it's only a micky mouse cup, but it would be nice if we could use it to give fringe players experience and to get their fitness up, and it would be nice to get past round 2 for a change. On this basis, i can see it going all the way to penalties, and Bartosz pulling off a couple of saves for us to progress. Prediction: 2-2 Wordsworth and Nouble score, we win on penalties.
Nouble has had ample opportunities to show he is a striker, sure he may run around a lot, hassle defenders and put 'keepers under pressure but he can't put the ball in the net, which is what he should really be judged on. Meanwhile Taylor is asked to show what he is all about from the right wing when he would probably rather be in Nouble's position. I know who I would trust more in front of goal.
Badger on....hope he puts us out of misery. No Nouble never lit my fire or anything else come to that! Prove me wrong Frank!
