Crawley Town have secured the signing of striker Tyrone Barnett from League Two rivals Macclesfield Town for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old was wanted by a number of clubs, but has now completed his move to Steve Evansâ newly promoted side. The 6ft 3in forward made the step-up to professional football last season and scored 13 goals for the Silkmen over the course of a campaign in which the team struggled to create chances. Barnett had previously been hot property in the non-league ranks having bagged 40 goals in 81 appearances for Hednesford Town. Crawley boss Evans said: âTyrone is a great signing for us. The lad had a brilliant season and we have watched and analysed him for around six months so you can say we know enough about him. âHe is magnificent in the air and has a great touch for such a big lad. Tyrone acknowledges and respects that he will have some serious competition for a place in the starting XI." Barnett becomes the Reds' sixth signing of the summer ahead of their Football League debut.
He will be a good signing for Crawley. They are buying proven League 2 players and that should stand them in good stead for next season.
He is magnificent in the air and has a great touch for such a big lad Sounds like he is a little like Peter Crouch (he was magnificent at Norwich)
