New City boss Sean OâDriscoll said he wanted to complete McFadzeanâs proposed move to Ashton Gate âas quickly as possibleâ yesterday after taking over from the sacked Derek McInnes. OâDriscoll is familiar with McFadzean from his short period in charge at Crawley during the summer and is keen to continue the negotiations for the 25-year-old which were started by his predecessor last week. City are currently the only club in the running for McFadzeanâs signature after Reds rejected an offer from another Championship outfit â believed to be Bolton Wanderers â last week. However, Reds chief executive Richard Low says the Robins will have to raise their initial bid â thought to be in the region of £500,000 â if they want to secure the services of the former England C international who signed a new three-year contract at the start of the season. Low said: âI wouldnât say we are near a deal at the moment. We are fairly close in terms of valuation but it is not a done deal by any means. âThey have made a good offer but it is not what we want. We would be happy to keep Kyle and he is happy to stay so it is up to them to meet what we want. We wonât sell him unless we get what we think he is worth. âThere is one other club who are not that far away but they have said they wonât go any further. Bristol are certainly the most aggressive in terms of their interest but whether they get him is dependant on offering what we want. The ball is in their court.â http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/10161123._/? Are they messing us about because of previous history with SOD,I would tell them to stuff their player if they are trying to blackmail us,espcially as they are asking for £500k plus..
Usually you'll find that they rate him at 500,000 and are just trying to get a little but more. Look with Kelly, they rejected 150k bid as they thought he was worth more, then accepted 200k a 50k more valuation? that's not a lot in football no doubt they would accept 550-600 for McFadzean but as I hope city would do, they're holding out for more money for an important player. They no we want him so they'll push us a little but further and try and get another 50-100 grand out of us. Price worth paying at the moment with our current defence
To be fair to Crawley there may be some pay back to SOD here as they must feel a little betrayed by him after he left them very shortly after joining to go to Forest. Can't say I blame them too much, Steve Coppell anyone!!
Crawley aren't messing about. He was due in Bristol yesterday, but City put it off until today because SOD would be in training and doing press all day. He has been out for seven weeks with a serious respiratory virus that may also have affected his heart so the doctors at both clubs need to assess him very thoroughly before any transfer process is carried out. SOD is quoted as saying he knows macFadzean and wants him here asap.
Very suspicious,Coppout is DoF and SOD left them,I think they are trying to screw and get their piece of flesh.....I would repeat our offer,if it's not good enough then walk away.....
I think this was the problem we had in the summer by walking away. I agree with Angel and Shiny we need defenders up our offer by 50k and see what happens. If we walked away all the time we wont get anyone.
I agree. When you pay over the odds at an auction you still walk away happy. When you lose out by not offering enough, you always go home unhappy. He is still young enough for his value to rise in the next couple of years. Cant we offer £500k plus Fontaine ?
' Lansdown went on to confirm the club were still interested in signing Crawley defender Kyle MacFadzean, who had been a target for McInnes.' That's straight from the horses mouth.....Good.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21013669
Article on BBC's Crawley Town web site; It would seem that they are posturing a bit; "Crawley Town chief executive Richard Low says that due to their financial position and the desire of manager Riche Barker to strengthen his squad, they would be prepared to let McFadzean leave. "It would have to be the right club and the right money for him to move," Low added. "We are not a massively rich club so if it was the right sort of offer we would definitely let him go, if that's what he wanted. If someone really wants him they will have to pay his proper value." This is another club that has risen very quickly up the leagues because of a rich owner which now sees the FFP rules looming large and maybe having to realise that with gates of 5,000 at best, they need some hefty chunk of cash in to keep building and progressing.
He is a Crawley player after all If he were one of ours (soon we hope), we would expect our club to get all they could from the deal.
See told you, We offer 500,000 they want that little bit more and apparently willing to settle for 550,000. Anything to get that last little bit out of us
I don't like our club being shafted over a barrel but we have just released 2 players in an area we were already short in. He must be bloody good for us to let proven defenders leave and offer half a million for this guy who isn't even FIT!
or tried & tested beyond div 2 Still, I must admit SOD is certainly clearing the decks. I can see even more moving on when he looks further at M Wilson & Bates. Does Bates' mum still live down stairs ?
