According to SSN, Barry Fry has stated that Peterborough have accepted a bid from Leicester for CMS. It seems he has already turned down moves to Norwich and QPR. Is waiting on a bid from West Ham apparently. It doesn't look like he will be coming to us! Leicester also in for Neil Danns, another Saints target. Can money buy success? Sometimes, maybe, but not guaranteed.
No big deal really. CMS is only proven in league one, i can't see him scoring 30 goals in the championship. Also, let Leicester buy who they want, Middlesbrough did this last season and look where they finished up.
Potentially i'd like soton to possibly sign Dexter blackstock! he'd do well and i reckon the fans will welcome back a fan favourite!
i don't really rate cms that much. i would much prefer sharp or someone like that. the reason he scored so many last season was that peterborough went ridiculously attacking all the time. with those gung ho tactics, i'd be disappointed that he didn't even get to 30 goals.
CMS will be one of those players that will either be brilliant, or as I suspect, he's already peaked and be a bit like Billy Paynter and just not really do much in the Championship (appreciate he's played there before with Posh, but he's one of those players that to some is either "very energetic" or to others a "headless chicken").
Griffit could have been really good. Sadly, I believe Fabrice Fernandes took him under his wing and spent more time showing him how to be stroppy than to be a better player.
Mckail Smiths performance in the playoff final was nothing to shout about. Chased lost causes but missed two absolute sitters, would rather have someone who could hit the back of the net without being part of a gung ho system!
Considering that he has apparently turned down the opportunity to join two newly promoted prem teams (Norwich and QPR), the chance of him coming here (even if we were interested) seemed unlikely! That said, there are better players out there. He is not the future.
i agree, although CMS got all the plaudits, Sharp is alot younger, pacier and much much more importantly has been banging goals in the CHAMPIONSHIP for a few years now - all this means he would be my stick on choice over the two. that said, i still slightly prefer maynard and hope were not out of the running. didnt someone mention on here NA has 5 signings lined up???
NA said at the end of the season that he would be looking to bring in maybe 2 or 3 quality new signings. So 5 is a bit optimistic (unless maybe if Chamberlain goes, and if we can get rid of Puncheon).
