Craig Levin really has favourites doesn't he. Ross McCormack who has scored 15 goals this Championship season is frozen out of the Scotland squad once again while Craig Mackail-Smith who has only scored 7 goals this championship season is picked nearly every match. If I was a Scotland fan i'd be pretty pissed. What do you have to do or be to get into Levin's squad?
Not saying he should be picked ahead of McCormack, but I've seen Peterborough a fair few times over the years (Dad lives there) and I tell you, CMS never stops running. Maybe Levin feels he already has the quality up front in Kenny Miller, and just wants to use CMS for his pace and to harry the opposition. No offence to McCormack but he doesn't put half the work ethic CMS does, even if he is better technically. Depends what you want I suppose!
I'm a member of the Tartan Army & have absolutely no time for Levein. Remember, we're talking about the guy who put out a team against the Czechs in a Euro qualifier without a striker - deliberately! Surprise, surprise, we didn't score - but they did! Think of all the great managers & show me one that's tried that tactic. So the answer to the question, is to be anything but a striker to get into the squad. Ross is well out of it. Would only affect his confidence imho.
Aye, Levein is a strange guy who appears to have clear favourites, which McCormack doesn't fit into. Most of the Scotland fans I have spoken to can't understand why McCormack isn't in the squad. Perhaps if he played for Dundee United he would get selected, everyone else has.
Accept for us long suffering Scots.... Anyway, at least we will now have Matt Phillips from Blackpool, the former England U19 & U21 player, has chosen to play for Scotland and we will accept his apology for playing for England.
Mackail Smith is **** imo. Not worth anywhere near 3m and I'd argue Ross can compete with Miller as well. Probably with Miller edging it but Ross should certainly be making the squad I think
They have 5 or 6 fairly average/inconsistant strikers. none of them will fire scotland to qualification for a major championship
