Just been recalled into the Scotland squad.

I'm sure we will all be delighted for the lad, he said that was his dream and it's taken him only 6-7 weeks.

Could have been a real legend where it not for Defoe, and credit his character for getting back when many would have given up altogether.

Well done lad, all the best <ok>

Brilliant news. Hope he's Celtics number 1 for the next five years. Deserves it.

Really pleased for the lad, just a shame his career had to go on pause after that little troll left his foot in! Great testament to his determination.

Happy he's finally getting back, had massive potential..

Fletcher also named in their squad. But no Bardsley, guess his dream move to the mighty Stoke ain't going to well.

GUS POYET gave Steven Fletcher a glowing reference before the striker was recalled to the international fold, Scotland boss Gordon Strachan has revealed.

Sunderland striker Fletcher was yesterday named in the Scotland squad for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Germany on September 7.

Fletcher has been subdued in Sunderland’s opening two games after returning from the ankle injury which had kept him sidelined for the final two months of last season.

But Sunderland boss Poyet was impressed by the 27-year-old’s sharpness during the Black Cats’ pre-season programme and had no hesitation in recommending an international recall when he spoke with Strachan.

“I spoke to Steven’s manager and he said he’s been terrific in pre-season,” said Strachan.
