It's becoming clearer by the day since Gordon was allowed to leave that his stock ain't what it was imo and the complete lack of interest is very telling.

If if was really still the keeper we bought, surely one of the top clubs would have snapped him up? Arsenal, City, Utd and Spurs are all on The lookout for keeper cover and you'd have thought one of them would have moved quickly. Even Celtic seem to have gone cold.

I think he will end up in the championship personally or abroad in Australia or far east.

One thing is for certain, if isn't the keeper we all once thought and that's probably why Mon decided to allow him to leave.

Real shame imo.
 
Apart from a very brief spell before his first injury, he has never really looked like being a 9 million pound keeper..
 
Brilliant stopper, but so injury-prone we never had him for too long.

The save against Wigan will live long in the memory, but it's more a case of what might have been.

We should have been fighting off interest from the big boys, but, as you say, it ain't happening at the minute.
 
I always liked Gordon and i would have wanted him to stay. I just remember the form he was showing before he got injured and felt if he could get fit he was worth another year.
 
Bit of an enigma Craig. He seems such a quiet, unassuming lad.

I hope he finds a club at a decent level. If he can find some form & stay injury free maybe he could get his international place back.

As has been said though, he doesn't seem to be beating them off with a ****ty stick.

He is not injury prone - not sure how he got that reputation. out of the 3 long term injuries he had, 2 were directly or indirectly caused by a kick to his arm (break, then the same arm broke again).

If the EPL teams looking for a keeper dont snap him up, then it is their loss.

My point being though Syd, is that I fear he isn't actually worth any better now and that although his injuries were indeed not reoccurring ones, they have nevertheless individually taken their toll on what was once a hugely promising keeper, who I fear will never really fulfil his potential due to them.

Whilst I don't doubt he a is thoroughly decent bloke, we all were a little shocked that he was just allowed to leave so easily and wondered if thew decision was his or the clubs ultimately. Maybe now we all know why the club were so happy to release his wage burden from the club and that a host of other clubs know why too. Sometimes certain injuries can finish a players career at the very top level and although at 28 he has another 10 years in him, it wont be at the high level he once could easily have commanded.
 
He'll have been on one of those bumper Keano 40k a week deals here so an offer to play in the championship for 5-10k might hurt more than his arm.

Still think he'll sign a one year deal somewhere in the Prem. If not I reckon Celtic if they don't get Foster from Nufc
 
Gordon was a good keeper. The problem was when he came back from injury he was awful for his first few games back fit so it was always a risk when getting him match fit, then when he was match fit playing well the cycle would just start over. Also I think Mig is vastly under rated pulled of some world class saves and I think he is ok at coming out from his box, he was such an improvement this year and will continue to improve next.
 
Cant be that bad he made the greatest save in premier league history. I hope he finds a good home and shows what he can do
 
I really thought Gordon was the best keeper we had on our books.

However if MON released him then he musn't have been. I feel a bit sorry for the kid because he seems like such a nice guy - and IMO I think Celtic would be a good move for him.
I think he can do better than Championship as well, especially HULL!!! Maybe a lower premiership team to get his confidence back up?

Either way I wish him the very best for the rest of his career.
