Just been released by Sunderland. Any thoughts? Big fan of Kenny, but could be good competition.

    maybe

We can't afford to buy replacements for all those that will leave this summer, so picking up a few for free will IMO deffo happen. Although, a new keeper might be a priority and we must get this position right.

I'm pretty sure Hughes will get at least one new keeper in. I'm a fan of Kenny too but he has looked only average in the PL. Not Gordon though. Too old isn't he?

He's 29. So not even in his prime yet.
I say sign him. A few years ago he was most expensive keeper in British history.

Also, let's not be too harsh on Kenny. He has had a tough season with a shaky defence for most of the season. Besides he had 20+ clean sheets season before. Not to mention the massive increase in quality of opposing strikers etc. just a thought.

Would still prefer Ben Foster to either Gordon or Green who we're now linked with. He'd also stay fresher as he won't be bothered by international call-ups...

Released by Sunderland says it all. Surely we will aspire to better.

Foster for me too. Is Gordon only 29? Feels like he's been around for ages and ages. Didn't mean to sound harsh on Kenny. All the points you make are valid, Newbury, but I'm sure we'll have a new first choice keeper next season

Spot on. I've seen him play many times and there's no way hes any better than Kenny.

Did a similar thread earlier, with regular football I think he would be back to his best, which is prem quality. Him and Kenny in the squad sounds terrific to me

Craig Gordon fell out of favour with Sunderland because he had a bad injury and never got a run of games when Mignolet was playing so well. I'd snap him up in an instance. With a good pre season under his belt and regular football, he'll hopefully rediscover his form from his first season at Sunderland where he was brilliant.

He's always injured that's why they are offloading him. We will get a foreign keeper we've never heard of in, and he will be brilliant.

Where are all the English goalkeepers? In the late 70's and 80's they were the best in the world. Sure Italy had Zoff, Germany had Maire but we had Parks, Shilton, Clemence, Corrigan, Rimmer.. the list goes on and on. Hart is world class but after him....? What happened?

Maier was OK I guess, but couldn't catch a pigeon to save his life.

Parksey must be one of the unluckiest English keepers ever I'd say. Any other generation he'd have been 2nd choice at least.

    What about this guy?

England hasn't had a top class Goalie since Seaman and even he had his off days. We've been lucky in that we've had Given. But you're in safe hands now with Hart.

I'd take Gordon on a free. better than Kenny IMO. But would prefer him as a number 2 to Foster.
