Craig Bellamy: Newcastle fans think they should be as big as Liverpool or Manchester United... they will always be on the outskirts

Craig Bellamy has told Newcastle fans they will never be as big as Liverpool or Manchester United.

The ex-Newcastle forward believes the expectations of supporters at St James' Park are too high, and that the North East club will 'always be on the outskirts' of the Barclays Premier League giants.

Alan Pardew's men are in rejuvenated form, having beaten Liverpool 1-0 and Tottenham Hotspur 2-1, and Bellamy says results like that lead Newcastle fans to demand a win against West Brom.

Most deluded bunch of supporters I've ever come across, minus the sensible lads of course. They're a bottom half side and been that way for a long long time. It's embarrassing that we get pockets who think that way but they are something else.

So would Leeds or Notts County or any other club in the country. We are what we are(and on that bases over the last 50 years we should thank our lucky stars we're an established premier league club), no coulda shoulda woulda about it. We're not there because we don't deserve to be. Simple as that. A good support gives us right to nowt imo.

No reason why we couldn't be a top 6 club imo, we're a bigger club than Man City, for example. Not to say I think we should be there NOW, that's just where we should be as a club, were it not for the fat one and the clueless one.

Were'n't they relegated 6 seasons ago? What happens when you lose everything? You start again. You don't live in a delusion that you should be something you're not. :p

They're doing sound aye, they should be chuffed. They're not a top 6 club and nor will they be until they get the points on the board season in, season out to finish in these positions.

Go abroad. Look for football merchandise. Arsenal, Spurs, Man City, Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea all easy to find. After that, it's Everton and Newcastle. Despite no success we are still a big brand globally. Man City and Chelsea only got there with their billionaire investment, that doesn't qualify as "big club". There are a couple of states in the US that have NUFC as their main EPL team. We're a big club.

You missed R Madrid and Barcelona as easier to find, but on a recent holiday to Bali there was evidence of Everton shirts presumably because of the Chang Beer sponsor, but no Sunderland or Newcastle shirts displayed. Some vendors never even heard of Sunderland which guarantees they have never heard of you either!.

Unless Rangers are going to be competition for us finishing in the top 6, I'd say they're irrelevant.
    See above^^^

And you can tell yourself that if you want, I know all mackems like to think Sunderland are as big as Newcastle, but you just aren't. It's not a thing to brag about as all that matters is results on the pitch right now, what's current, but we are a bigger club than you. Or should I say a bigger brand. Comfortably.
