    Hi guys,

    I am not a fan of the Daily Mirror, but Twitter sent me to this rather touching interview with Craig Bellamy. I warn you, its a sad read, and also contains some dodgy football 'facts'. Its not well written on the mirrors behalf, but what Bellamy says shocked me. If Bellamy doesnt get help soon, I cant see him playing football much longer.

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/craig-bellamy-says-gary-speeds-1314258

    Its a longish piece so I wont paste it in here unless it is requested.

    I dont really approve of personal things like this being posted in the press but this one got to me.

    Gotta feel for him. a suicide like that is tough on all involved and it being high profile in the media must only make it harder.

    I like Bellamy and loved his attitude on the pitch. Really sad that he's feeling his way. Hope it works out for him.

    Bellamy is possibly one of the most misunderstood and mis-represented footballers there are. For me he is a great guy with a great heart, you could see that last season on the behind the scenes footage at City when we played them. Everybody hugging and coming up to him, you don't get that if you are a knob, these were not just fellow footballers but security guys etc.... Not suprising he was affected by Speeds death; an emotional guy with a massive heart, let's hope somehow he can get any support he needs for himself and his wife!

    He has a reputation for being able to start a riot in an empty room, he's been misunderstood and being described as being his own worst enemy. Okay he's no angel, but I believe that if you want to understand people, even when they are difficult, chip away at them As long as its the right person involved, then they will open up.

    Craig Bellamy for me has a lot more integrity than many footballers, he does a serious amount of charity work and the death of his close friend Gary Speed did affect him. It shows he's got a heart. There should in all honesty be more like him.

    You have to admire Bellamy for doing so well on the pitch during this hard time. Especially at the Olympics.

    Hopefully he's getting himself to therapy. His mate wouldn't have wanted his life to fall apart over him he just needs help seeing that's true.

    Probably a better idea discussing this with a trained counsellor rather than the Sunday Mirror though....

    Bellamy is a really great guy that has done some stupid things in his life.

    The more I've learnt about Bellamy over time the more I admired him. Before he came to us- I was angry we would sign someone "like him" - but after reading about his charity work (and how he doesn't flaunt that he does it) - and other great things about him- the more I've learnt he isn't really a bad guy after all... he's a darn decent bloke!

    Speed's death rocked Welsh football fans and the footballing world alike , i just hope that bellamy recovers soon from this he was very close to speed. This is when football is put in to perspective bellamy not only lost his best mate , he may have lost his family also.

    <ok>

    Wish Craig all the best, a great professional and exceptional footballer! The bad boy tag is undeserved in my opinion, he was just passionate about football, and that sometimes led to unfortunate headlines! Boo'd him like the rest of the jack crowd when he played against us, but that's just football - the guy is a diamond; inspirational for his team mates and a tireless charity worker! Is unfortunate that he has ended up with Cardiff ;) - but have to admire his loyalty in wanting to help his home team! Really hope he gets past this 'bad patch' soon - really admire the guy!

    One of the funniest things he ever did was whilst playing for Manchester City. City were playing Rangers in a friendly and he was asked to sign a Rangers shirt and he refused saying 'I'm not signing a Rangers shirt no way''. It has to do with him being with Celtic on loan.

    I was always a big fan of Gary Speed. I felt he was going to take Wales to their biggest heights so far.
