What a goal by Vards. And its not against a bunch of no ones with muppet in goal

Its the world champions in their own back yard with Manuel Neuer in goal

Well done Leicester, well done Spurs. Getting goal number 2 gave England the momentum.

Its remarkable how far Vardy has come in his career. Next few months could cement his place in football history

Whats pathetic though is Roy will start Sterling, Rooney, Welbeck and Sturridge before Vardy

It needed to be a good win in Germany´s back yard to stop people commenting on that horrid kit.

Early days yet, but this could be a real challenge for Hodgson. The team that played at such a high tempo against Germany bears little resemblance to the team that stuttered through to qualification against some very average sides.

Two great goals from the league's best strikers at the moment against the world champions, so are Sturridge, Welbeck or Rooney capable of playing that same type of high pressing game? Is that way of playing going to be carried through for the rest of the friendlies and into the tournament? It is the way the Leicester and Spurs teams currently operate and it has proven to pay off, but is Hodgson comfortable with that?

    Your thoughts?

If the players you've mentioned only Rooney wouldn't fit in.. As a united fan I hope he doesn't get back in the side. I thought welbeck did well. Just his final ball wasn't great and on the odd occasion he seemed to get in the way of people.

I think sturridge would fit in with how we played last night. I'd like to have seen drinkwater get a run out in place of Henderson though I didn't think Henderson did badly. I thought dier was excellent. The full backs were too.

    World class finish that was!

One of the best England goals I've seen.

I see Vardy is an important player - but that is as an impact sub.

Sturridge is a tough one - so able but where does he fit in?

Rooney has to go but can't see him starting on merit. Great option from the bench though.
