Bolton manager Owen Coyle is yet to receive any offers for defender Gary Cahill, despite reported interest from Arsenal and Chelsea. And Coyle has issued a reminder to the England international that he has to remain focused as long as he is a Bolton player. Reports earlier this month suggested Chelsea were preparing to make a £17million bid for Cahill after it was reported that Chelsea captain John Terry told the Blues to sign the 25-year-old. Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is thought to be keen on signing an English centre-back before the end of August. Cahill has been on Arsenal's radar for some time, but the Gunners are seemingly unwilling to meet Bolton's valuation and have been linked with several alternative options. But Coyle told Sky Sports News: "I know there is interest from other clubs, nothing concrete in terms of offers, but all these elite clubs know he is an outstanding player so we will have to wait and see what happens with that." He added: "It only takes a phone call for it to all change but I have said to him he is a Bolton Wanderers player, he is well paid by Bolton Wanderers and he has to make sure he is focused to do the job in hand until something was to change."He is such an outstanding player that we are very fortunate to have him."
Arsenal are after Phil Jagielka, we have already had one bid turned down and according to most reports we are about to test Everton with another one soon. Cahill and Samba are probaly backups if the Jagielka deal does not happen. Arsene has said we need a CB who has played and has done well in England.
Just the arse trying to tap up half the defenders in the league, whilst wingeing about Barcelona. Hypocrites !
Or the media printing totally unfounded stories which most people with a bit of intelligence can figure out for themselves. Where's the proof we have enquired about any of these players?
OP do you ever post on your own board? Aren't you missing out on discussing what great buys Liverpool have made this close-season?
If you are going to buy him, buy him quickly so we can replace/improve with the money. I'm afraid you might put an stupid bid we can't reject on the last day, without replacements, Andy Carroll style.
I wouldnt worry, if you believe everything you read we're after about 10 players.Wenger likes to keep his dealing quiet so very unlikely there's anything in this IMO
Not sure why Chelsea would go after Gary Cahill, I don't think there's any truth in that rumour. We already have six centre-backs at the moment (although 1 or 2 will probably be going out on loan) which is more than enough. We just sold Michael Mancienne and sent Jerrey Bruma out on loan for two years due to not needing anyone in that area as we already have enough quality and quantity. This is Arsenal's player if he's leaving from Bolton.
Watch out for Arsene Wenger trying to get Owen Coyle to sell Gary Cahill on the cheap. Can forsee Arsene coming in with a bid around about £12m , Owen and the board should not sell him for less than £20m.
