I know that sounds dodgy, but http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/late...ndy?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Unbelievable. Outstanding young player? Neymar is an outstanding young player, Aguero is an outstanding young player, Hazard is an outstanding young player. Andy Carroll is not. Drivel.
Get off his back, no one is happy with what he has produced so far BUT lets show him some support and see how he gets on.
1. kenny has to back him 2. once i see the actual work on the pitch, in a consistent manner I'll give him some backing.
I dont believe this personally, I think when Suarez is back just keep playing the pair of them as Suarez drops deeper and drifts wide anyway so AC can stay on the CB's.
Why should we? he gets paid absurd amounts, yet is too busy getting drunk every night and going to festivals to train and get some proper fitness. Seriously, the guy gets all the supplements and gym equipment he needs, diet & workout plans made for him, yet he still is unfit and weak. It looks like someones taken an inflatable man and let out about 30% of the air. I support the team as a whole, not single players, they should all try their best. He is not.
His form is a worry but I think he needs our support, he has been frustrating but personally I am happy to give him time. Maybe I've learned my lesson after Lucas and Skrtel.
No I disagree, half of what you have stated is media bullshit. Why don't you look at it this way: Carroll is having the season/time of his life playing for the team he adores, then all of a sudden he is sold to Liverpool in a record breaking deal against his will. Then, due to the price tag he is on the back pages every single day, the twat of an England manager then gives them the bait they need to get right on his back. Add this to the fact that he was a replacement for the 'hero' Fernando Torres and LFC fans expect him to be an instant hit and when he isn't start moaning and groaning. We purchased him injured as well and he was only 21 when we bought him, that is very young to absorb everything I have just mentioned - just give him a ****ing break.
I really do think both sides of the coin have their relevant points. - We bought Carroll injured - not his fault he had a huge price tag - more pressure at a bigger club - Media hype made worse with Capello's comments Conversely -We never expected immediate performance, Suarez was actually the one we expected to full Torres' shoes -He never seems to put the effort in on the pitch - Reina said he puts in the least effort in training. - As a profesional football player he should be able to deal with the pressure and at least get the basics right From the management side of thing - Why did we buy a big striker when we're trying to enact a pass and move game, we're not a direct hoofball team?? - Why spend 35 million on the last day of the transfer window when we had options! Arguably we have fewer options this window but I don't see them splashing the cash.
Boo ****ing hoo, how do you know its media bullshit? Do you know him? Why would capello lie? What does he gain from it? I didn't think Fernando Torres was a hero, far from it. I was actually glad to see him go, until i saw the donkey Kenny thought would be an ample replacement. 21 or 31, you can see he make little to no effort. Look at kuyt, he is like andy, not full of skills, but at least he works his arse off. Carroll just stands there waiting for the ball to be played to him, then when it is it just bounces off him or he falls over his own feet. We can't afford to be buying players for £35m and giving them near enough a year to perform and when they don't, using the excuse "give him time" or "give him a break". It's unacceptable to be playing that badly at our club. No matter how young you are.
Utter bollocks - provide one single piece of evidence (beyond the bullshit trotted out by Capello about needing to take care of himself to justify not selecting him) that Andy is on the piss or seriously rethink your entire rant. Unfit and weak? Made Savic look ****ing useless in the Cup game, not bad for a useless player against a £6mil defender. Alternatively, you could see it as a clash between a young striker and a young defender that the striker won pretty well. If you're having a moan, look at the crap service he's had to his main weapon - his head, or look at how often he's actually had to abandon the position he should be occupying (right up against the centre backs) and gone looking for the ball out wide, where he hasn't got the craft or the pace to beat a full back, or come off the CB and receive the ball to feet and then turn and face the CB's. The problem is we were spoiled with Torres, who could do pretty much anything he wanted. Andy is younger than Torres was when he came to us, he's not the same complete player, he's much more an old fashioned centre forward and needs to be handled in the same fashion. He needs to stay as tight as possible to the centre backs, use his strength to win the ball in the air, or get so tight that he can spin the CB and get a shot off on his left peg. If you supply him right and give him the pitch time, then as Kevin Keegan said, he's one of the top three players ever in the air. So far he's been denied by crossbars, uprights and keepers playing out of their skin. Stay behind the team and the lad and he will score.
Savic is scrawny as hell, a 14 year old could push him around. It's no achievement. There is evidence Andy is unfit and on the piss, it's called every match. Look at him, can you honestly say he looks like a fit modern day footballer? Hell he would even be unfit in the 1970's. It's true he has no service, but good stickers create for themselves. I don't want our main source of goals to be from lumping the ball up to carroll in the hope he heads it in occasionally.
So you, as a professional Sports Scientist, have assesed Andy professionally and decided to say he's unfit and on the piss, because he's not an athlete in the same vein as Torres or Suarez? And as for bullying a scrawny Savic, who plays for the oil Billionaires, strange how he's actually had more pitch time this season for them than Andy's had for us. So useless is Savic, a Full Montenegran International, that they've just let Onouha go - a big strapping lad, that one. They prefer their scrawny International, apparently, and give him more game time than Andy gets. Andy's had just 8 full matches this season and has scored twice in those. 1 in 4 isn't amazing, but its better than you thought eh?
Well he can't win then can he, he's got half the fans saying '****ing stay up there and pressure the centre backs' where he would appear lazy because the ball gets no where near him due to our average midfield and then the other half saying '****ing run around and get involved' where he ends up on the wing with the ball and no ones in the box! IMO we shouldn't have so little options because Suarez is out, Kenny needs to buy another striker as this should have highlighted Kuyt is virtually done and Bellamy can only play every other week. Carroll can't play up top on his own in a team with Liverpool's style.
This is a bloody good assessment of the situation. And to be fair, I'd rather he stick near the CB's where he's dangerous. He hasn't got the pace to beat a CB, so he needs to be as close to them as possible to turn them and get his shot off. And its no good humping long STRAIGHT balls into him when he's operating alone, as the ball just gets tidied up because no-one is there for the layoff. He needs quality balls whipped in from wide to get after...
look, the guy is not doing what a CF needs to do. 1. his closing down effort levels are pathetic half the time. he barely jogs to close anyone down and when he does break into a run its usually only when he realises too late he could get something.... he needs to get on his toes and be sharper. 2. i totally agree about this go occupy the CBs line of thought... Its absolutely fine to come out and hold the ball up and lay it off. Tahts a CBs job but hang on guys if you do see andy doing this he simply cannot get to the box as he can't even run that far! its unreal seeing him succeed in a lay off, the ball goes wide and any CF should be sprinting for the box and he's 20 yards back trotting.... 3. i would be saying to him to go occupy the penalty spot and wait for ball... just work hard closing down and do that.... 4. i aslo agree on the long straight ball thing, there's no-one supporting him or even talking to him to say head it out to the right and i'll run there..... long diagonal balls tothe far post on the other hand can work for andy and he'd thrive on this.
Peter Crouch Even as he struggled through the goals you could see it was only a matter of time. Its funny that for all the Rafa bashing of man management this is one of the best examples of a manager sticking by his player. Crouch managed to get on the score sheet and in the end continued scoring goals. It is just unfortunate he was not willing to play second fiddle to Torres. Andy Carroll St John try all you can but Carroll's performances have been dire. Service can be poor, confidence can be low but when basics such as ball control, dribbling technique and heading ability are pathetic you know he might never make it at Liverpool. Peter Crouch could control a ball superbly even the odd overhead kick and you could see evidence of a footballer in him but every time I see Carroll am just left shaking my head.
