http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12691/7952177/Swans-make-Cox-approach What do you think? He'd be decent competition for DG but is a player in the same mould.
He's a tidy enough player but I would have hoped that we would be looking at far higher quality than him. He can't get near the WBA starting line up and they were only one goal better than us in the table. We haven't spent a fortune yet and, given Laudrup's statement that we need more goals in our team, I was expecting us to sign a high class striker to help get them. Cox doesn't measure up (make of that what you will). I am hoping that we will sign someone like Miku or Traore (strikers that might prove a surprise package) and I see on the rumours boards that we have a tenuous link with Soriano who won't cost a fortune. Interestingly, though, if we are in for Cox, what does that say about Moore and Lita because I just do not see him displacing Danny? That said, if Laudrup rates Cox and thinks he can do a job, I'm not about to disagree but I would be disappointed.
I've never knocked Danny as i think he had a decent first season in the PL but a top knotch striker is the next player i want to see sign up next and is that Cox !! No way..
Graham is great , but if we buy another striker ... I want better & a bit more experienced . I still think Moore has a roll as a " Supersub " .

I rate Simon Cox as someone who is capable of a bit of magic, like Dobbie, however... ...doesn't Rodgers' bid for him last January say a lot about Rodgers. Going back for someone who he has worked with before (at Reading), who is not significantly better than what we have got, who doesn't represent good value for money (would have cost at least £1.5 million and is on Premiership wages....not a kid with potential who's wages would be tied to performance.....there was a chance it could have worked, but an even better chance that we would have another Leroy Lita on our hands). This season was going to be a massive challenge for us regardless. We've lost some harmony (although that was completely out of our hands) but we've definitely gained on recruitment, I'm sure of that. I believe Laudrup is the best appointment we could have made regardless of what happens. There are going to be some teething problems, some of our squad are going to throw their toys out of the pram, but Laudrup deserves our unreserved support. If he gets it the players who want to be unprofessional will be culled and we'll come out on the other side stronger.
