there was a discussion today regarding the steep fall off of people not getting the "flu" injection [ past few years ] …. and along with covid what a strain this may put on the NHS SERVICE this coming winter. Well as one never to NEVER have had an injection I am in a quandary … does the fact I have been blessed when all around me have been "dropping like flies" with the flu [ or maybe cashing in on a sick note! ] I have been mercifully spared. With new info coming out regarding how "early" some 000's were infected by covid [ Dec Jan ] I wonder if the cough, sore throat and shortage of breath I encountered Jan/Feb [ treated with 2 different COVONIA'S ] for 2 weeks was not just A SORE THROAT! HOW MANY on here have the Flu jab? and does it work or just make you uncomfortable for a few days instead of laying you low?
Not saying that you didn’t have it, entirely possible of course, but last I read was that only 1.5% or so in the south west have had coronavirus by the latest estimates. Everyone I know seems to think they’ve had it but in reality barely any of them will have.
I have the flu jab annually, being coeliac (even though I never adhere to the diet) I’ve been having them for years. I’ve never had anything other than a sore arm after. I’ve seen 2 people who have had the flu and judging by them and the way it knocked them out, I’ve never had the flu. Heavy colds maybe but they were like death warmed up.
We have had the jab every year since I retired, never had a problem, bit of an ache, sniffles for 24 hours, never had the flu whilst taking the the jab, I'm lucky life has been alright.
I have never really had a serious cold or flu … maybe lasted a day or 2 with runny or blocked nose ...know what you mean by death warmed up seen a few like that ...got stuck in a hut with a couple for over a week that got through packets of beechams/lemsip like most would sweets … they struggled physically to walk up the mountain after 3 days off … and were like zombies in the hut... had i not been "chef" they would have likely have starved … I guess I will have to make a decision this year and give the surgery a heart attack as usually get at least 7 or 8 requests / reminders and a phone call to have it …….. hope my immune system does not rebel against the intrusion!
