I've just seen this asked on another forum. How can Coventry afford to pay their players when they are only getting a few hundred supporters, under the fair play reg's which says the wages must be a percentage of gate money?

I don't know anything on the rules regarding this. Can I make an obvious assumption that this would be based on an average previous seasons attendances?

For example, you can't reduce wages or dismiss players from your squad because your attendances have dropped...jeez the Gills would be in serious problems if that was the case...lol

We were hitting home gates of nigh on double figures at the end of last season, yet come this Saturday we will be lucky to hit 5k... and I didn't mention the word glory hunters once...oops.

I did think the loyal supporters were the Sky Blue one's standing on the hill on Sunday, however, maybe they were just the sensible ones financially.

Well if Coventry had money problems before this season - then this season they are surely up a financial creek without a paddle.
2,046 attended on Sunday. Not all were adults paying £16. Adult only prices would have generated £ 32,736 and they won't always get an away attendance of 371.

I can't imagine ancillary sales would have topped this figure up to £50,000. From that they have to pay tax, then rent to Northampton FC.
What pennies are they going to be left with to pay wages and other expenses. The economic & footballing future of Coventry is looking bleak.
