http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZhI4LQnn9E Really feel for the fans at Coventry, Decent club, Decent fans, shocking board! Ordering the stewards/police to remove all banners and kick whoever protesting out the ground isn't helping either. For their sake Sisu Out!
The chairman who resigned last week is now the Director of Football Operations (ie AP). On Saturday he was sat in the dugout for the game. Their manager was clearly pissed off about it in his interview after the game.
Coventry are the only team I can recall recently that haven't benefitted in any way shape or form since the move to a new stadium. If anything they've got worse.
The OB nicking people holding up SISU OUT banners is disgusting, I hope they get relegated and it results in SISU ****ing off.
Felt sorry for the fans. Relegated in 2001, after 34 years in the top division. then sacked Strachan which I always thought was a bad move at the time. Overheard 2 Coventry supporters after the match talking about their duty in sticking with a club that was going to be relegated. When they moved into that stadium they were able to fill it. Now we were singing '20 thousand empty seats' That's the problem with going into a large stadium without a large fan base, and continued success on the pitch to back it up.
Absolutley disgusting if fans protesting through banners and chants were thrown out and had their banners removed. In this country we used to heve the right to peacefully voice our opinions whether they were right or wrong. Shame on Coventry for ordering their stewards to eject protesters, it also shows their lack of concern for their employees by putting their stewards in a potentially dangerous situation. Hope Coventry can sort themselves out the fans shouldnt have to put up with that shower they have in charge at the moment.
The Ricoh is probably up there with one of the worst designed newer grounds. Darlo's takes the worst spot but that was due to Reynolds' ego and madness.
We still do, the stadium though is the private property of the club and the owners of the club can therefore ask people to leave if they choose to do so. The issue as to whether refunds should be given or not is the only one where rights are brought into it.
For 12 league home matches this season average attendance is down even further including a low of 637 at the end of September although the other 11 have seen over 1,500 attend. Also we failed at the first hurdle last Saturday in defending the FA Carlsberg Trophy we won at Wembley this year(I was there). Largest ever crowd at the new Stadium was 14,000 in '04 for a Charity Match to raise money to help the club. Highest competitive match attendance was 11,600 in '03 when the new Stadium was opened. Tough times for the Club currently but that is not unusual as it's past has proved.
It seems that a lot of chairmen seem to treat a football club like their own personal toy (Hearts is the worst in terms of owner), and fans can be treated as scum of the earth as far as the owner is concerned. In terms of the Head of Football Operations sitting on the bench - can you imagine Adam even considering doing that. The ricoh looks a good stadium driving past it - and it's pretty easy to get to (never been inside it), so to have tens of thousands of empty seats should have alarm bells ringing at board level. No matter what we may think of the personality of Papa or Adam (I think they are both part of the greatest board/management structure this club has ever had), at least they are running the club in the fit and proper way the FA and Football League must wish every club adhered to
The stadium actually belongs to Coventry City Council, so they shouldn't be throwing out residents for protesting against the club owners. I noticed someone on the Leicester board yesterday, saying that considering the numbers they were currently getting, they should have stewards on the outside throwing people in, rather than the other round.
The Ricoh is a good ground. It's got fantastic acoustics. There is no "poor layout of stands", it's just that people choose where they sit. If we'd gone into League One under Phil Brown 5 years ago, we'd have known how they felt.
Coventry haven't seemed to be able to get going since they were relegated from the top flight. They may well do a Southampton, Norwich, Leeds and drop down into league 1 and come back stronger. Then again they could also do a Bradford or a Wednesday.
about right ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ this. refunds should be given in this instance. imo. must say though, that the view from the top of the stand looking down on the pitch is one of the best around.
True. They haven't even made the play-off's in 10 seasons and have flirted with relegation too often. I suppose this demise is inevitable but sad. Cov were a staple of the top division all the years I was growing up and were one of the most likeable teams around. 2002: 11th 2003: 20th 2004: 12th 2005: 19th 2006: 8th 2007: 17th 2008: 21st 2009: 17th 2010: 19th 2011: 18th
Didn't they win or get to the final of the FA cup sometime in the 80s? And they're certainly more likeable and humble than the team at the other end of the M69!
