just seen this. original story from the Coventry telegraph i believe. http://www.eatsleepsport.com/covent...ing-mcdonald-recall-1545431.html#.URj3eR2vHpg We knew about the clause - it was on the cards but is it likely? Do you think we have someone else lined up?
although reading his comments i get the feeling cody's style may not fit with his plans? maybe cody isnt that certain type of striker? Robins : "We need somebody who is regularly sticking the ball in the back of the net, and the way that we play it's got to be a certain type of striker - and somebody we can afford."
If Coventry recall Cody then to me it will show desperation on their part. Cody has only ever been suited to the Gills due to the role we play him in. I said when he was at Norwich that he was going to be left out in the cold, through their demands for him and although he went to Coventry they also failed to make the most of his ability. No good them looking now to learn what has been staring them in face for a long while. I hope this is not an attempt to put pressure on us financially. Maybe on Tuesday he needs to kiss that Gills badge a few more times just so they get the message.
Makes me smile now ,that before we got him back, our fans were saying would he be the same without Bayo. I guess hes answered that
I think from when he come on as a sub we could see he would be fine, he is just meant for this club so I would love it if he was made a permanent signing.
In this interview Cody sounds as if he wants to stay. http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kentonline/sport/2013/february/11/cody_mcdonald.aspx
Rumours are that Huddersfield want Mark Robins as their new manager, this could be pivotal in the Cody deal, surely a new manager would recall a striker who is knocking them in out on loan.
He also said he wanted to stay last time until we didn't make the play-offs. Not sure he would be willing to stick it out another season in league two if we don't get promoted (I really hope we do go up though)
Huddersfield definately want Robins. Be interesting if he goes, if a new manager wants Cody back. New managers usually mean new styles of play, so I expect whoever it is will want to have a look at Cody http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/coventry-city-fc/coventry-city-fc-news/2013/02/12/92746-32793043/
if Robins goes to Huddlesfield who will coventry look to, Martin Allen must be on the radar. on another note how must coventry fans feel that now they are at the stage where huddersfield can poach there managers. i went to uni in Cov in the 90's and remember seeing them beat liverpool 5-1 in the top flight. ( as a student only cost £5 to get in too)
Coventry have turned down the approach. But will Robins walk out? Thats happened at other clubs. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21429555
That is really bad news if he goes as it would be likely whoever come in that they would recall Cody as they would want to try him out and see if he fits in to their style, I hope Robins stays at Coventry.
