Really pleased to see Coventry freefall down the divisions. Still no forgiveness for them and Everton relagating us in '85. Decades of their smug fans chrirping on having the third longest unbroken run in the top flight. Not that one of my mates is a Cov fan at all......
Must admit I have little sympathy for Coventry or the predicament they now find themselves in, although every season since relegation from the PL I have tipped them to go up (except this season). I certainly will not miss them if they manage to slide even further down the league structure.
i've tipped them to go down to league one every season!! finally, they've gone. wonder how sammy feels...
I've never been a big fan, we have historically a truely ****e record against them. We never beat them during my childhood. Regarding the relegation in 85, it was Everton I felt anger against. Coventry won their games to stay up. fair play to them for that. I would have expected them to try and win and had Norwich been in that position I would have hoped we would. Everton were the ones that fielded a reserve team because they had already won the league and were in the fa cup final. when there are relegation issues at stake, that is unforgivable. Thankfully they lost the fa cup final to Man U. Not often I mant manure to win anything.
Poor Sammy do you remember when everyone thought he was the absolute bollocks at our club? When really he was a very average player in a **** team good riddance.
I do remember the 'Sammy Clingan, it could have been you' song from last season. ha ha Wonder what was going through his mind then..... Wonder if he'll be looking to jump ship again like last time he got relegated from the championship?
Girlfriend is a cov fan got to tell her yesterday. I was very sympathetic. Although I did tell her through the medium of chanting.
They're well equipped for league 1 - a crowd of just over 15,000 yesterday, for their most important match in years
Hmmmmm.... although I don't particularly like Coventry, I don't gloat in their relegation to League One either. Not so long ago that was us and I remember how I felt when we went down. Their fans must feel pretty sick this weekend ...
I wasn't alive back in 1985 so I hold no grudge. But, Coventry away was my first Norwich away game and that ended very badly.
If you keep treading water, eventually you'll drown. Having said that, it could be the best thing that ever happened to them. Look at how it transformed us, and it doesn't seem to have done any long-term damage to Southampton, either. Charlton and the Sheffield clubs are looking sweet at the moment, too.
difference is, coventry are a shambles of a club at the moment both on and off the pitch. now you could argue we were when we went down but at least we owned our own ground and got full houses every week. they don't even receive any money from the ground for catering or anything like that! they are seriously doomed - league two football or non-existence beckons i'm afraid to say, and nobody would wish those two on anyone
Not that i know much detail about the Cov situation, I understand their owners, SISU, have bled the club dry to some extent. Hence, i feel symphaphy for their fans, some of whom are clearly walking away from the club in droves.
