Hope so. The Mig has to start next season, even if sicknote gets better. Then we got Sunderland Royals most loyal customer and Westwood fighting it out. Just looks like carson will be on his way out. He'll do well down the leagues.

What i have seen of the lad he looks to be a canny keeper and for free is just a huge bonus. I fancy he will start the campaign as Mignolet is still new to the English game and looked a little nervous at times last season. Westwood is 26 I believe and has many more games in this country to his name. I think Gordon's injury will see him out until the new year and by then, he could negotiate a Bosman. I wouldn't be in any hurry to offer Gordon a long term deal until we know how badly injured he really is but if he is fit, an offer to mean we can sell him on next January or August would be preferred.

Don't think he is intended as No2, looks like he wants to compete for the number 1 jersey in Gordon's absence, good on him.

This is a deal and a half to get this lad for free. I was hugely impressed with him when he was playing for Carlisle. He moved there at a time when we didn't need another keeper. He's going to provide real competition for Gordon and Mignolet. Some people might see him as a reserve team keeper but I doubt whether Westwood himself will see it that way. He'll be coming to try and become the number 1. So he should too. He's good enough for the PL.

Tremendous signing if we'd paid a few million for him. For free, well... what a gift! <ok>

a bloke at work kept emailing me the skysports transfer updates today, and after hearing we'd signed elmo and were moving for dong and westwood, i grumbled a bit. he's a leeds fan, and read me the riot act over westwood, saying he was the best keeper in the championship and that was in a ****e team. good signing this one, whatever may become of gordon.
