Sat up in the Dolman stand watching the promo party the Coventry fans were clapping our players and fans after the game. Fair play to them as they still have their own relegation battle to get out of.Always had a soft spot for them after the encounter at highfield road when we both stayed up. well done lads and make sure you stay up.
That's good to hear- I park at the Cricket club and its good to see away fans welcome in there, several of whom will often be seen in conversation about football with home fans- I couldn't be there on Saturday as I was running the Manchester Marathon and at 3pm (pre arranged months back) was in Old Trafford touring the stadium. You cant imagine my frustration at not being able to get a signal to check on our score at least. But that is good to hear of their sporting nature as were Bradford it seems the other night. Couldn't even celebrate on Tuesday or Saturday as I was tapering for the race on Sunday but that first pint Sunday afternoon tasted so good! (New PB of 3:54:00) has made this week a pretty exceptional one!
This is good to hear, but to be honest, although I know trouble does happen I am fortunate to only have experienced REAL nastiness from Milwall and Cardiff fans. Swindon and the Gas were vociferous but it was just an unpleasant noise tbh. Everyone else has been fine - and in the pubs beforehand its normal in my experience for the fans to mingle and talk football - even here in Swindon before the City game. That's how it should be. Nice gesture applauding our celebrations though - most would have just left. ....... Unless they were really city fans who couldn't get tickets in the home stands of course
Thats why I have so much time for the PNE fans, stood and cheered us to a man at their place when we got promoted up there, big chorus of 'only one team in Bristol' too..
And Leeds, can remember them climbing over the fence from the wedlock into the Williams, it was really nasty
Mind- I remember a few years back now, we played Preston, last game of the season. They had been promoted and beat us. A lot of city fans invaded the pitch and in a line started walking to the away end. It seemed at though it could become hostile, but they got to the penalty area, formed a line and applauded their fans continuously- It was received well and was reciprocated.
There was a lot of shaking of hands on the pitch too, that allowed Preston fans to feel able to come on our pitch, for anyone who was at Preston for the game I described earlier we knew nothing sinister was going on, it was jus reciprocated best wishes.. (my mate also thought it was about to kick off and there were 1 or 2 knobs who didn't like it)
