I respectfully disagree Supcon.
I don’t think we should sack Manning as I’ve said above - it would be madness when we are top half of the table and within a few games of a playoff place.
BUT - if the unthinkable did happen (and it HAS happened before with Pearson) - then I’d take Warnock without question.
Dinosaur? Maybe, but that crafty old bird knows how to take ‘unfashionable’ teams to the promised land and has the trophies to prove it.
I’d also go as far as to say that he gets a team to play to their STRENGTHS, so if they are a bunch of very physical guys without much ball skill then he will get them playing hoofball - to great effect. We are NOT a physical side so he’d have to find another way - and I really believe he could.
Anyway, it won’t happen - Manning is here for a while longer and has my full support.

Well said sir :emoticon-0148-yes:

Irrespective of who is in charge, do we even have any players with the talent or flair to entertain ?

Probably not, our midfield players in particular are what I would class as ‘workmanlike’ not flair players. Twine was meant to be, but for me he hasn’t proven that tag so far. Memheti is probably the only one we have in that category, and as we all know, it can be more hit than miss.

To be clear, I am not advocating for Manning to be sacked, that would be absurd so early on in his time with us, and given our current league position.
Regarding Warnock, when was the last time he got a side promoted? His ‘specialism’ of latter years has been keeping teams up from this division. If we ever find ourselves in this predicament, then perhaps. To me it would in no way be a progressive appointment for our club, something that pretty much every one on here has been complaining about.

Well Manning has not been a upgrade on Pearson <doh>

'Style of play improved considerably'?
If we had better technical players his 'style' would be better. We don't !
From O'leary or any defender, none can pass accurately let alone give the correct weight of pass.
Knight, Bird, Williams and McGuane are at best grafters and Mehmeti is knit 1 purl 1. Yu isn't pulling up trees and best not to discuss the useless Fally and Armstrong.
For me at least, Manning's style of play is driving me nuts.

Aside from the 2 strikers (who have been a flop, especially Mayulu) and McNally and McGuane, Mannin inherited the rest of the squad. A lot of the names you mentioned there were Nige's L1 signings. I said at the time that wasn't the way to progress, but his happy clappers were praising him left, right and centre at the time...
LM is doing the best with what he has, and it's better than what went before, with essentially the same players.
I get that the style can be a bit annoying at times going across the lines, but it's better than long ball hoof.

Don't get hung up on who signed who. Forget it mate, we are where we are.
His preferred 'style' is like sowing seeds on stone with the players he has, inherited or otherwise, at his disposal.
It works on occasion, but you and I know, the Pompey/Derby/Coventry/Blackburn game is round the corner and in the meantime we watch the mind numbing dross back and for our back line.......only for Vyner to launch it into touch.

Front foot football!!!

An opinion from our group on the train back saturday for a day costing £200 each going to Yate instead of the next away might be an improvement while not mugging us.

Yet we’re closer to the play-offs at this stage of the season as we’ve been since you know who was in charge. Take your pick on what you want, Sheff Utd are utter $hite to watch, and were 2 seasons ago as well, but they got promoted 2 years ago, and will be thereabouts this season.
If the target is the play-offs, is better to get there with some frustrating performances, or, play expansive football, get pumped most weeks and end up around 14-18, or worse in the table?

I’m going down the Gate this Saturday so I hope the lads turn it on for me and the family.
I see Coventry beat Blackburn 2-0 yesterday at their place. Our home record is good, so maybe a positive result is on the cards?
