Might be nice to look at some positives. Phillipe Countinho has been fantastic in the last few games, taking players on, threading passes through and even improving his shooting. Hopefully when we have a striker back in Sturridge, who Countinho enjoys playing with most I think, then we can actually start scoring.

I dont think this was a mistake. I'll list my reasons:

1 - Coutinho often tired early in games. Rodgers has to choose whether to use him early or late in a game. He has not performed when he has started but has been very good at changing games and playing against tired legs.

2 - Our defense is poor and our midfield needs to step up. Coutinho is not strong defensively so Allen is more useful right now.

3 - Balotelli does not offer much for Coutinho to work with so he seems to loose effect.

4 - Coutinho has played poor when starting and well as a sub. Why change what works?

5 - I already mentioned Coutinho tires early. This also makes me question whether he is up to starting two games in one week. He started v Madrid, the fact that he was benched yesterday is pretty much confirmation that I am right.

Maybe BR should be getting credit for bringing Coutinho back to his best rather than slated <doh>

ZOMG Cootino was great for 20 minutes against tired players he must be greatererer for 90 minutes WTF Rogers out1

I think any argument about him tiring is more than countered with we're a side who needs to score first to win.

Start him and let a different attacking player be the sub

He's clearly our form player, along with Sterling. He should start. How you jump from that to Rodgers out is down to your own imagination. <ok>

I of all people was trying to be positive and others turned this negative. Why do i bother.
Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised to see us lose a streak of games now. Swansea, Newcastle, Madrid and the chavs.

That was astro being sarcastic - referencing the Rodgers Out thread <doh>

Which in turn is only a thought throwing out exercise.

Two things he needs to improve : a) Stamina.......just doesn't play 90 mins. at the mo.
    b) Physical strength.......needs to be more muscular and meaner on the ball

Sack Rodgers, sack Coutinho, sack Gerrard, sack Balotelli, sack Allen, sack Mignolet, sack Sakho, sack Skrtel, sack Lovren, sack Lambert, sack Borini, sack Markovic, sack Lucas, sack Johnson, sack Toure.

    Problems sorted. <ok>

Yep, and until he shows the ability to perform for the full 90 then he'll have a better impact coming on later

Coutinho's issue is stamina. Once he gets tired he dissappears. The problem is people are forgetting coutinho struggled at the start of the season and has slowly been regaining his form. The issue is as he picks up others too need to be on the same wavelength as he is a brilliant player if you want him to find you.

Yesterday the skill to create that chance at the end is what I need to sew over 70 mins then 90 mins

I've said it before and I'll say it again - he is already twice the player Lallana is with potential of becoming 10x.

He should be starting - even a Coutinho in poor form provides more creativity then the rest of the team put together.

Good attacking midfielder. Very tidy young footballer, if a little inconsistent last season from one game to the next. Liverpool need to replace some of Suarez's goals from midfield so if Coutinho is to start, he needs more goals and more assists. Only 22 so that'll come.

    he's got magic feet

I can't think of any other player who can move the ball in such tight spaces as well as him.

the stamina and consistency needs a bit of work though

He seems to have his shooting boots on this season - some of his strikes are very clean and well struck. I'm confident the goals will come <ok>

He'd be devastating at a big club with a big squad such as City or Chelsea, or abroad at the Spanish giants, Bayern or PSG. Shouldn't play every game for 90 mins like a f**ing shire horse anyway.
