http://m.newsshopper.co.uk/sport/14...st_manager_I_have_ever_worked_with/?ref=fbshr Nice to see this sort of stuff coming out of the club - the doom and gloom appears to be lifting. Worrying that he's 21 and had 6 managers though.
Not much competition though. Powell was a good man manager - tactically he is just as bad as Peeters and Luzon. Fraeye doesnt even deserve a mention as he makes Powell look like Ancelotti.
Right or wrong - you never hear a player come out and compare Powell. I'm sure some of our fans were probably offended by some of these comments. However - I read it as Cousins must really(!!) back Riga. Hopefully the rest of the squad feel the same.
Agree Royston. Our midfield has been split open at will all season. The only good game I have personally seen from him was against Rotherham. If we were able to field a another competent midfielder, Jordan would not of played anywhere near the amount of games he has.
He has been poor - I think he'd admit that. But when you're carrying out the work of a glorified PE teacher against consummate professionals - it will always be an uphill struggle. Let's hope he returns to the Jc of last season
He's the long term replacement for Solly IMO. He's a good player, but central midfield doesn't compliment his game as much as RB.
Cousins needs to do a lot of work on the technical side of his game. He has a good engine & physical presence, and a decent shot at times. His first touch is often poor and his short and long range passing are very average. A lot of our moves break down at his feet. If he wants to have a better than Championship-standard career he needs to work on these deficiencies.
Given the level of coaching he has received since Riga left first time round I am amazed that any of squad can perform ( oh that's right they didn't). The malaise affected all of them. Even the ones that came out of the academy failed, shortly after debuting in the first team squad under Peeters, Luzon and Fraeye. Hopefully, Riga can turn this round and rekindle what Steve Avory and team delivered first time round in Cousins, Poyet, Pope, Fox, Llennon, Ahearne Grant and Holmes Dennis. Possibly even some repair to Harriott's game. Hopefully Fraye didn't have long enough to damage Lookman. and with a recovering side we wont need to lead lambs likel Charles Regan- Cook, Josh Umerah and others to the slaughter at to early a stage in their careers. Some may not recover but if the Rotherham match is (big if) a sign of the effect that Riga's management skills can bring out then we should see some of the Cousins of old return to the side.
